casita battery

Hi everybody, I'm brand new to the trailer world and brand new to this website so please forgive this question having been asked a couple hundred times prior. I just got a 2007 13' casita patriot and am trying to simply test my battery. I have a tester but for the life of me I just can't get my hands in there. I saw somebody mention they had to cut a new hole to access it? Is that really the only way? Thanks

No, do NOT cut a new hole. If it went in, it can come out! If you need to pull the battery out, can you lift it up sufficiently to put something under it (carpet?) and drag it out.?

BTW: I see this is your first post... WELCOME to FiberglassRV... we'll give lots of help here!

Hi Gardner,

I just sold my Patriot and the battery placement was on of the few things on that trailer that was a PITA! Some folks with Patriots would remove the fiberglass bench to get to it and then switch out the battery to an AGM so they didn't need to get to it to check water levels. I always thought that just relocating it so that the battery box was directly under the bench opening would work the best but never got around to it. Good luck,

Karen

thanks Karen, I was hoping for a secret trapped door that I couldn't find or something but that's what I figured.
