I bought an old trailer magazine from 1957 and was browsing thru it today and found an advertisement with a big photo of an egg! I had no idea there was one from that long ago!

Just when did they start making the molded fiberglass trailers?

This is an awfully cute thing.

Pretty neat. Tons of windows. I'd sure like to see one in person.

That would be a hit at any egg gathering. I wonder if there are any still around?

I sure love all the windows but that makes me wonder how they managed any storage space on the interior. Sure would like to see the inside.

I would love to see it too.

I would expect that the lower half of the back end "bulge" is storeage. Along with anything under a seat, the sink and the stove. I imagine it has as much storeage as a 13 foot Boler.

I dunno Donna but I guess this egg can be added to the Home page list of eggs. We might draw some owners in one day looking around the web! I want one... I love vintage..

Good point Camilla. Then too, I've edited this topic title to include the trailer name, just in case someone choses to search for it!

Man! What a rare bird. There's got to be one still around somewhere. What's really neat is how it echoes the automotive tailfins of the times. It's just too cool!

",,,and eliminates all road rumble." Hmmm. Does that mean that Ma was back there cooking while this thing was going down the road?

Thumbs up

I seem to remember that someone had one of these for sale, and posted here to see if there was any interest some time ago. I cannot find that post. He did not post a "For Sale" ad, only a link to his Ebay auction. The back did resemble a 1957 Chevy...

It's begging to be pulled by a '57 Belair....

Nice find!

Camilia,

Here is a link to another one that is in better condition and for sale. It is a moulded fiberglass/aluminum hybrid. The roof, front, and back are of molded fiberglass roof/front/rear. The sides are fiberglass on the top and aluminum on the bottom

THey are way cool.....

Jay

Here's the website of a guy who may know something about this trailer -- or whether there are any of them around:

That is neat too Jay. I love vintage trailers and when the Tin Can Tourists meet up down in FL in the winter I go and check them all. They were so beautiful and it just makes my old heart tingle to see these beauties.

In addition to my egg (that I still haven't restored) I have an Ultravan that is a recent acquisition: http://www.ultravan.talkspot.com/aspx/temp...nk.aspx/msgid/2 Check the little squares on the right for interior shots.

I still have to do some things to the interior - hate that upholstery and carpet! Did anyone ever really like orange shag? I also need to put a smile on him like this:

I know he's not an egg but there sure is a resemblance isn't there? He's aluminum and fiberglass and at 22 feet only weighs 3600 pounds.

I just have to find time to restore the Playpac but with too much land I stay busy on the chainsaw and mower. Always trees falling... I may end up selling the Playpac and let someone else restore it and buying an egg that is camp ready.

I've seen that Eileen thanks. Must be neat to make a living off of movie props. Interesting job!

I kinda like retro... reminds me of my youth. While I WOULDN'T want it in my home, I could learn to enjoy it for the brief period of camping trips. After all, nothing lasts forever and I'd wait until stuff wore out to replace it with more updated stuff. But, that's me... I'm cheap!
