Rob and I are new to the forum. We originally posted in the wanted section and are pleased to say we have just purchased our first
boler. It is a 1977 1300 model.
We weren't initially looking for a project, but sometimes you end up with one. Our initiation was learning how to install new rims and
tires. The old ones were in such rough shape, we couldn't get it off the property safely. The treads were actually peeling off.
It was a Sunday but luckily Princess Auto was open and had trailer
tires in stock. We quickly learned how to use a hydraulic jack and Rob's long arms provided the necessary leverage to remove lug nuts that were pretty rusty.
The good news is that the stove works. It came with a small electric heater, though my uncle thinks he can fix the
propane furnace. All of the exterior
lights are working. The frame is in good shape. It has an extra window in the kitchen and a big window in the door!
This year our plan is to give it a thorough cleaning, fix the one leaking window (the nice jalousie in the door), install a new dinette table, solve the
electrical issue with a couple of the interior
lights, fix the slightly sagging door (I've ordered the new beads and bolts from Scamp) and replace the cushions and upholstery.
I've ordered various other parts from
Scamp, like the posts missing from the bunk. We also will be looking for a
fridge as the trailer didn't come with one unfortunately. We are aiming to get the basics, like the scrubbing of the ensolite, done fast. That way we will be able to get out for one trip before the summer ends.
