Load Range D Tires on Scamps

I'm due for new tires and would like to hear from anyone who has put them on their 16' Scamp in particular, or other models. How to the feel, are they bumpy, due the side wall get hot? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I had D Rated tires on my 16 ft Scamp Std and have D Rated tires on my 17 ft Casita SD . ( Inflated to 60 to 65 PSI ) . I have not encountered any problems. I am more concerned with weight rating than a bumpy ride . You can run the tires at a lower pressure to soften the ride but I follow the advice from Discount Tire and run the tires at their full rated cold pressure.

I had posted this a couple of months ago.

Ours seem fine.
No hot sidewalls and less bouncy/bumpy than our previous Scamp13.

Thanks

Thanks Ray
I just read it. I will change to the D range now. I have always tried to make improvements to various things along the way and somethings I had been sorry for changing.

No problem, Kenny!
Glad to help when I can.

In post 38 of that thread, I put in a link to the Carlisle D rated tires:

..... link to the Carlisle D load range tire that might be the better option for a Scamp16?

Hi Kenny,

I put D on my EggCamper and although I dont have miles on it, I think it was the best way to go vs C. I also ran D on a Casita for 2 years - it rode great! I ordered the Maxxis M8008 off Amazon. When they come in I checked the tire date and they were only 3rd week of 2017 (0317).

0317

That was my next thought, when I go to the tire shop and ask for current tires.
Off Amazon no less, good for you. I live under Murphy's Law, if I were to order on Amazon I would get tires with the same date I already have.
Anyways...Thanks everyone!

ha! I know the feeling. The seller was called "Award Products". Weird name I know for tires..... They shipped out of a warehouse in Pennsylvania. I know nothing about them except my experience with that one order. Good luck!

Add a TPMS and you are DONE!

(Assuming that if it is valve mounted, you have metal valve stems)

As also should be the driver of the tow vehicle.. even though that is often not the way it works out.
