Thanks all for your support and good wishes. It's hard to believe Reace posted the info on 8-31-13 and seven days later I'm on the build list.... and right now, the new 5.0 is still on paper . It's going to be at least a year and that's okay. A whole year to plot, plan and help run up the online buying businesses. I bought the upholstery fabric yesterday and today I've been crusin' 5th wheel hitch pages. Fortunately, I HAVE a trailer and it's perfect for the way I use it. Besides, I've already got reservations in (or am planning) about six weeks of camping in the Scamp during 2014.

yes, that is the downside of having to sell one to buy another, the lead time between units, last year's vacant time was only 3 weeks, this time it is closer to 5 months, in the prime time. I'm already looking for cg's that are open year round.. Donna, something else to consider, Escape prices are in Canadian $$ and it fluctuates, if you are savvy enough and close enough, it would be worth a trip to make a payment when the US $$ are high, could save you anywhere from 5-10%- is $1500-$3000 over the next year.

Right now the rate is: 1 US to 1.04 Canadian which for what I'm looking to spend is $1,240

Not me Floyd. And, I don't rush into anything. I've waited six years and eight months for this (since I saw the very first Escape 5.0 when it left the factory) and it will be another year before I see mine. Different strokes for different folks as we say!

Donna, how exciting for you. What year do you think you might take this beauty cross country so we in the mid-west can get a look?

Nancy, I'm betting there will be buyers in the mid-west... you won't even need to wait for me! I have to wait for retirement before I do too much traveling. Right now, that's four years, three months and 23 days

I too plan to order the new Escape 5.0. Been lookin a while to find something like this. I will find a way to carry some 10 ft kayaks somehow.

Nancy in the midwest, I don't know where you are but we do travel to Ohio at times an at some point will take this new rig to the indy500.

Can't wait as I start my build sheet.

No can do. The owners manual for my Ranger says I'm limited to 48 square foot frontage on any trailer. The missing porch maybe?

Congrats on the decision Donna. I bet you are glad you waited this long. It should be a while before you get twofooitis again. I think you've found the cure.

Pretty much my retirement schedule too, Donna. I have no fixed guidelines due to being self employed, but I am certainly hoping to retire by the time I hit 60. 4 years, 3 months, and 8 days. Certainly would be glad to go earlier if I can swing it.

Congratulations Donna! I really like the way the new 5.1 and 21' have opened up the space inside.
I haven't seen any prices on the new 5.1, how does it compare with the old 5.0 in price?

When viewing the 21' at the Oregon Gathering, my eyes about popped out when I saw the counter space. I love my Scamp, but the counter space is only about 4" between the sink and stove. The extra 8" width helped me not feel like was going to whack both elbows walking in the aisleway. And yes, I know the width, etc. comes at a fuel price. So, I'll just drive slower .

The preliminary, and Tammy DID say it was preliminary, puts the new 5.0 at the same price as the older version. From what I know about the standard stuff in the 21, on the build sheet I saw items that shouldn't be on it, and items that were left off... like an oven.

As far as pricing? Tammy may come back and say OOOPs, or it may be only for the first 10 or only for those delivered before Dec. 31, 2014. I don't have a clue. We know they often discount for winter builds so they can keep a full crew. All I know is I'm a happy gal!
