'89' 19' Scamp

I restored an '89' 19' 5er two years ago and have used it several times but the first time I used the new cook stove it worked great until the furnace came on . The blue burner flame on the stove top went from going up to being sucked down so I opened a lower cabinet door to let some air in to the furnace and it (blue flame) went back up again . Has anyone run into this before ? Wes

Wow, that's an interesting one. Where is the furnace relative to the stove top? I am thinking about the air flow in the living space - would that make a difference? Probably not.

However, my second thought is that the furnace cold air intake is under the cabinets, and the furnace sucks a lot of air through the cabinets and the only make up air comes down past the stove top openings around the burners. My stove and the furnace are on the opposite sides of the galley, so I do not think I would ever see this, but it did occur to me that it might be good to keep some of the cabinet doors open a crack when heating. When you rebuilt the cabinets, you made them too airtight, would be my guess. Thought of a louvered vent in one of the doors?

The cabinets are the original ones that came with the trailer , just cleaned ,sanded , and sealed them again with new hinges and handles . I'm thinking of using a hole saw and putting a hole or two in the floor of the cabinet that hangs over the toekick area . Thought somebody might have abetter idea . Wes

Casita puts a metal louver on the side of the cabinet next to the dinette seat to solve this issue.

Never heard that one before. But installing a louver makes sense. Should be able to pickup one at a Lowes or Home Depot.

Think cheap and simple. How about some of those felt sticky bumpers that keep the cabinet doors opened just a crack, 1/8 inch or so, a little more if necessary. That may give enough air flow.
