By the time I was finished with my new dexter
axle and my labor, about $100 worth of steel, I had about $600 including shipping of the
axle.
To me, that was still good money spent on a good
axle, the frame was reinforced and this will last until I am room temperature....
There my be less costly ways to do axles, but I build about a trailer a year and have gone to all dexter torflex axles, no more leaf springs and shackles and straight axles---that is 1950's technology....nothing wrong with the fifties, but using the torflex axles has resulted in better riding trailers, no bounce, better tire wear, etc....why not use the best?
