Excessive Tongue Weight - 2008 Bigfoot trailer 25R21RB

Bigfoot 21RB trailer has greatly excessive tongue weight.
Tongue weight is Rated for 500#, BUT I just measured it at 850# using Sherline Tongue Scale.
That is with two full 30# LP tanks and battery on tongue.
Two foot front Storage compartment on tongue mostly empty.
No water in any tank as in winter storage condition.
Otherwise Bigfoot 21RB trailer is empty.
I am looking for comments and suggestions.
I WILL weight the trailer "as is" on a nearby public scale to get all the weights.
I hope someone has some ideas!
Darryl
PS My son was gifted the 1978 Scamp.

The first time I used a Sherline scale last weekend I neglected to raise the stabilizing jacks first, and had a crazy tongue weight when I used a floor jack to raise the scale under the coupler. I hope that's the last silly thing I ever do, but probably not....

I have same trailer. Never weighed it but I am guessing it would be near the 500. My suburban barely sags without wdh but I use it when traveling.

Appreciate if you let me know how you come out on scales. Thanks, Chris

I think the 500 is without the 2foot extension on the frame for the front storage.

Hello FlaGman and others that own a Bigfoot 21RB Anniversary Edition trailer - what is your measured tongue weight with two filled LP 30# tanks and battery in place?

That trailer may be heavier than you think. Maybe get a weight on the whole rig ready to go. That tongue weight may be OK for it. A substantial tow rig is a good idea. I toured a Bigfoot 21' that was for sale here about a year ago, and was impressed by the construction and beef. My tow rig would not have been up to the task, so had to pass. Nice rig though...
