oxygen is home

:wub :wub :wub
Well, we finally have our Oxygen home. I'm leaning toward calling it O2. However, it has been suggested that we put a fin on it and call it a whale.
:u It's bigger than we thought it would be. We first saw it at the End of Season RV show in the International Trade Centre in Toronto. Immense building, lots of other rigs around. When we bought it in Dec. the dealer had brought it into their service bay out of the weather. So until we hooked it to the pick-up we had never seen an Oxygen next to a car or truck.
This is a regular egg squished on the sides to make it high, narrow and 19' long. The kids like it because it's not as small as we had told them. Oh she's pretty. All white inside and out, except pale lilac print on the upholstery and curtains both in a nylon chiffon material.
The 32 ford roadster is still in production. Norm is using his holidays not for route 66 but for wiring, fitting and mfg. So it will be road tested with the pick-up. Probably to Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and maybe Back to the 50's in St Paul.
Pictures soon???
Jean

Al -site for Oxygens?

Nope! This is THE site. There are apparently a few other Oxygen owners here but I've only seen a post by one. I'm not certain how many of them were even made. But the new Bonair owners have the rights to the molds, so there may be more in the future. Our dealer certainly was asking for more to be produced.

Finally!! I was beginning to think your were pulling the wool over my eyes about having O2. I knew it would look big next to, say one Buttercup's size, but not Ricks Bigfoot. I bet it goes back little then. (:duck, gosh, Rick, I was just teasing)

Al, if you want to see one, do a search and some pics will show up.

I would have loved to have had one. So maybe when Jean get's tired of it?? (yeah, right, don't hold my breath)

Oxygen pictures

Norm and Jean Mulloy passed through Grand Rapids last weekend, and we had a nice visit with them. What an interesting couple! Anyway, we managed to take some digital pictures of the Oxygen, which we are posting herewith (thanks to Mary F. for figuring out our photo uploading problem).

The shape makes for a very attractive design. Interior pictures to follow.

I think this is my favorite molded fiberglass travel trailer, in its looks (except for the BIOD Extase in the Netherlands, that is).

Thanks for getting the pics!

And, look at that shine!!

<img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ef7b246d1d09oxygen1topost.jpg/> This picture makes it look like it's only 5 ft wide. So how wide is this baby anyway. I know you sleep across (maybe) so it has to be at least 6ft - right?

Width

Jana:
Norm and I measured across the middle; it's six and a half feet (inside) at the widest point. The bed is sort of a trapezoid shape. Norm and Jean may have some comments to make regarding the interior layout when they get back from their trip.

we're back

Dale thank your for the pictures.
We're home and had a great trip. Pat and Dale came out to meet us and brought a bottle of Mich. wine. I felt very in-hospitable not opening it right then to share, but we were in an no-drinking park in sight of the office. How serious are they about enforcing that? No one here has mentioned that.
As for sleeping, we slept lenghth-wise. The dedicated bed is in the form of a 4D . (and no- that's not a bra size)
And where you climb out is about 15 inches across between those two bottom edges ". So you bump out on your bum until your feet hit the floor or you can reach the sink to heave on it. Norm says we need a trapeeze from the ceiling and he's way more agile than I am. You can see it in Dale's pix just above the fire extinguisher. The closet is a rod on the ceiling over the 4 and the curtain is the bathroom door.
Mary -I like the front window in that extase. We can only look sideways.
Very few tt on the road this week.
Jean

I found one!!

Just wanted to let everybody know that I found one Oxygen left in Saskatchewan and put a hold on it! Great price of $14,900 canadian dollars, translating to about $10,600. Does that sound pretty good? It doesn't have a/c or shower, but does have fridge and toilet. Is it possible to add a/c? I need it in Texas! Any recommendations? Looks like I may be heading up to Canada soon to pick up a new trailer....

congratulations Dennis

Yes you can have roof A/C. Because of the egg curve to roof the roof is apparently strong enough to stand on.Our dealer had just done an installation and that was the mechanic's opinion. You might as well get the dealer to order it so you can have it installed while you are there. good old CND $ again.
Keep us posted. Peter has some more mods for the bed that he will be posting soon. And he has done the shower already.

Thanks!

Not sure I'm up for the trip - 2000.44 miles each way! But it'll be like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...
I'll keep you posted. I'm checking out financing right now, insurance too. Then I'll have to try to figure out how to take a couple of weeks off to go get it. My clients will be calling me all the way to Canada...
