I have forwarded your question to my other half, who is really an expert on all things
fiberglass.
I'll mention that we currently have a 19'
Scamp and have a 21'
Escape on order. We also are seriously experienced sailboat owners.
So, we spend a lot of time doing all things fiberglass. Dan found a product that we have been using for a number of years now on both the
Scamp and the sailboat. We live in S. Florida, so our fiberglass gets a real beating from the sun. Additionally, we do deep winter camping with the Scamp...and are in it for long trips several months a year.
The product is New Glass2. It is SO easy to use. You just have to make sure you follow their directions and use THEIR cleaner. One application (5 coats) lasts a year for the boat in salt water including several months in the Bahamas and the other assorted trips we make. The boat is in the water all the time. We get more than a year out of it on the Scamp. It is like dipping an applicator in milk and spreading it. No buffing.
Have you thought about using a gel coat product on the Scamp?
Anyway, I'll flip that part to Dan as he knows his stuff.
