Ordered Scamp 16

Big day today, we ordered a Scamp 16' side dinette, front bath!
We'll drive up to Backus after the spring thaw and pick it up.
Many people on this site provided much useful information and opinions that helped us make our choices. Thanks a lot!

Congratulations! Very exciting! Are you driving out from California? Will be fun trip. I live in Washington and drove to Backus to pick mine up. Biggest danged mosquitoes I've ever seen in my LIFE out there...... Have fun; keep us posted.

Yes, I'll be dropping my tent trailer off with my nephew in Missouri and then pick up the Scamp. We plan to hit most of the national parks on the way back to California. We're excited, it's a big item on my retirement bucket list. Thx.

Ordered Scamp 16

Congratulations, Doug!

Giant mosquitos or no, conventional wisdom is to spend a few days near Backus as a "shake-down" to make sure there are no bugs in the trailer itself.

You cross-country adventure sounds awesome!

I met a couple last week that made the pilgrimage (from Florida) to Backus last year (2014) to pick up their new 13 footer. They spoke positively about the whole buying experience and were obviously really enjoying their new Scamp.

Congratulations on your new Scamp. We made the trip from CA in 2012 to pick up our 16 with side dinette front bath. Had a wonderful trip and a great trip home stopping at several National Parks. ENJOY

Spring thaw in Minnesota. See you in July!

Seriously, congratulations.

We picked up our new Casita last April and had a great trip although it was a bit of a trial by fire due to some serious spring storms.

We passed the test and enjoyed it non the less. A little rhyme for ya

Congratulations Doug on your new purchase. I am looking to buy a trailer also. If you don't mind me asking, why did you choose the scamp. I've been researching all egg style trailers and I'm still scratching my head. I thought I would choose the Escape but still not sure. It sure is confusing.
Anyway....enjoy your trip to Backus and many years of Happy Camping.

Picked up my new 16 footer a week before Xmas and I ordered everything on it. It's winter here in st joe Missouri but managed to stay a night in it Xmas. I'm in my driveway until my home association makes me move it. It's been fun adding goodies in preparation for this spring. I plan on taking pictures of my changes soon.

I picked up that same model last May 2014. I drove from Anchorage Alaska to Backus picked it up and drove back with my brand new scamp. 6800 mile round trip with a couple of minor detours. Love it!!! Used it a lot last summer. I even showered in it a couple of times in Canada. I might be traveling round trip from Anchorage with it to Oklahoma late May or June of this year 2015.

Wow and congrats, you may just hold the travel record for picking up a new trailer. Welcome to FGRV too.

A trip to Alaska is one I hope to make some day. In reply to Beltster, I picked Scamp as the only FGRV I found with 2 beds & bath that I could pull with my Forester. It also seems to be very good quality from all I have read. If i was looking for a new tow vehicle and trailer at same time I may have gone larger. Of course, budget is always a consideration for me. Good luck.

I did my 6800 miles towing the 16' scamp with a Toyota Tacoma. My May trip im considering towing with my Town and Country minivan. Not sure yet. I really like the large bathroom and the convenience of the side dinette. It was fun showing my new camper to other travelers!
