CT16 Uhaul camper rebuild
Hey All!
There is a nice Uhaul CT16 that ended up in the company shop I work for. The owner is looking to have minor and major mods done to the trailer itself, while keeping it looking original. My work does pretty cool modifications, and will try to catch pictures as it goes along. I'll update with pictures when I can take them off my icloud. Oh, and I have the owners permission to share as well.
When I can figure out how to work the flood lights I'll be taking pictures of the interior plus the modifications already in the works.
P.S.
Admins, would it be alright to link the company in this thread?

It's a VT16. CT is the 13 footer. There were only 59 of the 16's built

Beautiful outside appearance. By the way, this is a VT16. The CT model is 13' long.
They have done some moving of hook-ups. It looks like water, power, and another small access door on the door side now. Can't tell what is still on the driver's side, but those aren't in the normal position, either.
The tail light conversion has been done, so those should work fine. Can't see the tongue...is there a propane holder and surge brake unit still there?
Also, the upper side and rear amber/red marker lights have all been removed. This may not be legal for highway use, but I'll let others weigh in on that.
Looks like a great project!

I also noticed the nice tail light conversion, but it is now missing the side marker lights.

Agreed... I am going to do a similar taillight conversion to my CT-13. I have purchased small LED marker lights that should be very easy to install on the flat sides of the adapter housings.

Those are the aluminum adapters that Uhaul once sold, no longer available now. They were actually made for older cargo trailers that had a round corner. I have a set but never installed them.

Okay. I have the fiberglass adapters but the same principle applies.

What do you think your U haul may be worth? I have a seller of a similar U haul that
needs TLC and I don't know what to offer the owner.

What size Uhaul, the 13 or the 16? Since the 16's are rare they usually go for more money, but "rare" doesn't always mean it's worth a lot. Condition is the other factor, and if the trailer hasn't all the issues fixed that affects price. Note that Uhaul used it's own proprietary parts and most are not available. A CT13 can range in price from $1000 up to $7000. They did not have brakes and require an axle replacement to get them. The VT 16 had surge brakes. I've seen VT's in the $5000 range.

As Bob said, some VTs have gone for around $5K, but others have gone for as high as $8,500 depending on the enhancements. Someone wanted $12K a couple years ago, but I don't know what (or if) it finally sold for.

CT16 Uhaul camper rebuild
This is a weird one, for a VT, no vent for the potty room, no cutout inside the door that is typical for VTs. Does have a rear receiver which is not typical but is known, can’t quite tell but does not appear to have the hammock attachment key holes, no solar but it may be waiting to be added,no furnace vent together with the previously mentioned anomalies , maybe a prototype. It does have the potty room and typical double breaker typical of VTs. Could be it has been extensively modified and original cutouts glassed over and repainted.

I think it has been modified. What about the bumper. Did the VT use the same bumper as the CT. This one is different than my CT, which has the painted aluminum bumper.

Some have a fiberglass bumper and most have aluminum, the fiberglass bumper looks like the CT bumper in aluminum. Agree this one is different
