Casita questions
Thinking of buying a used 17' casita, is there only one size of bathroom in all models? How do I determine what capacity the fresh water holding tank has?
Do they all have a battery charger built in? Any other advice is welcome

Yes, in the 17 all bathrooms are the same size. They did change the lay out of the bathroom in 2013.
I don't know about really old ones but all the ones I have been in or owned all charge the battery when plugged in to shore power.
The larger optional 25 gallon fresh water tank has just a really small narrow amount of space on the right hand side when you look through the access door, the standard one has a much bigger space. Sorry don't have pics. If you post on the Casita forums someone may have pics. I find Casitaforum.com the most informative but you do have to join.

The Casita bathrooms in the 17' are the same size, newer models they changed the sink cabinet but the overall size remained the same. For fresh water size if you open the outside access hatch behind the wheel on the door (curb) side of the trailer, if the area inside is open then you have the standard 16 gallon fresh water tank If behind the hatch door you mostly see a water tank then you have the optional 25 gallon fresh water tank.
The Casita Forum is loaded with information including manuals, specification and much more

Do all sizes 13,in up all have the same size bath, thinking of a 08 17'
Could the smaller fresh water tank be changed out to a 25?

I would think the 13 is smaller but not 100% sure, definitely less head room in 13 and 16 compared to 17.
Don't see any reason you couldn't add the larger water tank but you would have to take out the bench to install.

No idea how the size of the bathroom on a 13' compares to the 17', all I can tell you is the the 17' bathroom is large compared with other similar sized trailers that length.
As for a larger water tank there are trade-offs either way, if you connect to street water most of the time there is no need for the larger tank, whereas if you boondock then the extra capacity is nice. Also consider the extra weight of larger tank when filled and that you loose some of the valuable storage space. If you are buying used I would try is the way it comes for the first year, then decide it you want or need to change to a larger fresh tank.
Just in case you have not looked here is the Casita website http://casitatraveltrailers.com/

When we ordered our 2009 Casita we got the larger tank. Never really needed that extra capacity and would rather have had the storage.
It really depends on your camping style. We did not boondock very much.

Thanks, I'm mainly considering a casita for the bath/ shower facilities, I have a mild sprinter conversion which has no plumbing so I was thinking a small trailer would fulfill my needs when I'm dry camping, kind of a portable bathroom! And I can tow it when someone wants to travel with me,

We chose the high lift because we live on an island and the tides affect the approach loading and unloading the ferry. It is great if you boondock in areas where clearance is an issue.
The only negatives from our perspective was needing to adjust the hitch height for a level tow (the factory worked this out for us) and a slightIy higher step up at the door.

Is the high lift something that would be fairly easy to do as a retrofit?
I'm towing with a sprinter for a long trip thru Alaska?

Yes it is, perfectcasita.com has a bolt on for your 17. I added it to my 17, think it took about 3 hours and I was working by myself. Nice kit too.

The Casita installed high lift is a different axle with a different drop angle thsn the standard. . I am not familiar with the third party option.

The high lift axle in a Casita is a Dexter #10 axle which is used on all Casita's, the start angle is different which results in the increased ground clearance. The same results can be achieved with a standard #10 axle and the high lift kit from either Orbital machine works or directly from Dexter.
