Trailer: 1973 Love Bug

Hey Folks! I'm a proud first-time owner of a '73 Love Bug. Overall it's in great shape but I need to replace the metal band which goes
around the outside of the trailer and covers the seam. Please refer me to a viable source. Also would like to find a source for rubber
"flashing" (I don't know what to call it) to cover the edges of the fiberglass and around the doors...like that which borders a window.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Well, Scamp has an online store: Scamp Parts Store, that would get you started until others pop in.

Gosh, I just checked and you are new to FiberglassRV, having only been a member for less than two hours!

I'll give you a hint.... we'd like to look at pictures of your trailer (especially) if you have any to share

Wow!
You are about 80 miles from where they were made! Considering Scamp is pretty much due north of you, see what they have first and let us know what you need otherwise.

Do you have any documentation?
Expect a PM from me in the near future. Having a "local" around might help me research the history of these trailers.

Oops almost forgot in my excitement ...

Welcome to FGRV!

Welcome, and congrats on your new Love Bug

Can you explain more about which trim you are looking for? If it's the "heavy" U-shaped stuff, that might be "Trim Lok," which is available in a number of places and can be read about here:

http://www.trimlok.com/regular_trim.aspx

Or is it some other type of trim?

Raya

PS - Fashion note: I see there is a link on the site for "Trimlok Apparel"

I think you are looking for the belly band, which you can get from scamp:

Good luck, and post pics!!
