Casita
I'm checking, but this looks very much like our Members trailer that just sold. We may be seeing another "instant flip attempt."

Interesting.
I'm reading the ad, and thinking of the Scamp 5th wheel currently in a similar situation, and thinking "By their grammar ye shall know them."
Of course I'm mostly kidding, but really, how hard is it to look up words like "awning," "refrigerator," and "maintained." Sometimes you practically have to be a detective to figure out what people are saying.
Be interesting to watch, if it is Phil's trailer (does look likely).

This ad could be related to our new "Instant Flipper" in Houston.
Casita Please, I'll drive anywhere
This may be a similar approach to the Riverside, CA flippers.
Fortunately, I think Phil got a pretty solid price, a quick sale, and all cash. This fella may find himself a tough road to flip with much of any room in the trailer for a profit.

Hi Phil,
Congrats on your beautiful "new" Bigfoot! I was wondering... did the buyer of your Casita give you the impression that he/she planned to keep and use it?

Here is the story he gave me...
He is 29 years old and has cancer, and wanted a camper to take his kids out in while he was still able.
He wanted it so bad, he asked for me to wait up for him so he could drive down from Houston and pick it up at 3.00 am. And even offered to pay the asking price..
Seems like it went from my driveway to his, and he put up for sale in less that 24hrs..

What a creep. I guess there's nothing really wrong with buying and then reselling trailers, but there's definitely something wrong with someone lying to you about their intentions, especially with a sob story.
Oh well, after this guy resells it I'm sure your Casita will be loved and appreciated once again, and it sounds like your Bigfoot buying experience was perfect.

My wifes Dad called and asked about the trailer for sale "posing as a potential buyer"
the guy goes on about how he has owned it for several years, paid $2400 dollars for the upgraded off road frame and axles, etc..
Which that was already done to it before i bought it almost two years ago.
But yes, our bigfoot buying experience was excellent and we made some new friends "Dave and Nancy" that will be meeting us at the Spring Fling Rally that this weekend
Dave and Nancy purchased a newer model 21.5 bigfoot

Wow. Buying and selling is one thing, but this is really not cool. Lying about how long you've owned it? Not even just "fudging" but a whopper of a tale?
The lying on the buying end seems pretty tacky; but the lying on the selling end almost seems illegal. I suppose it's "buyer beware," but is misrepresentation okay? Like that?
I will be curious to see how much it goes for. I thought it was a really neat trailer, and I love the layout, but I would guess that many people buying a 17 would want a bathroom. So maybe he will end up selling it for .... well $6900 would be about right

heck i was thrilled we got over 6k for it.. " i had done a few mods to it like, 15inch mag wheels and trailer tires, tinted windows, max air roof vent/fan"
We bought it from the original owners for $5200, and he said he had a hell of a time selling it..
It was on craigslist for over 3 months when I found it..
The only reason we purchased it was because of this
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/index.ph...c=27234&hl=
And we wanted a replacement ASAP, and it was cheap and in Texas,

With rare exception we haven't seen this type of flipping as rampant as it's been lately.
Times are tough and getting tougher. I've got companies in my industry that are playing very rough and approaching my clients with all kinds of stories and scams to try and get them to do business with them. I guess the old adage is appropriate at the moment "forewarned is forearmed" and all we can do is try and keep everyone informed if we catch the unethical ones. Sure don't want to see anyone here get slammed on the back end of one of these flips if it can be avoided.
Keep on your toes if you're buying or selling and check everything out thoroughly.

I can't figure out how this guy could have a title to transfer that would back up his story that he owned it for several years. Whenever I have bought one of these, it takes the state at least six weeks to even issue a new title with my name on it. The title will have a date-issued, too. The flipper only has Phil's signed-over title, I assume. The buyer should be able to figure out he was BS'ed.
But I agree that Phil got a fair price for his trailer and I hope the flipper fails to turn a profit.

Nothing wrong with flipping anything like a car, boat, real estate or anything. Things like this get flipped all the time. For some people its a job. Look at a car dealer who gives you a trade in price and turns around and sells it for more later.
Just my opinion.
But lying, that's another matter.

I may be goofy, but I recall somewhere that TX is one of the states that doesn't issue a title on a trailer.
Well, he's starting to drop the ol price today...

In some states they now print out titles while you wait. You go in, hand them your paperwork, pay, and they hand you a freshly printed title.
I can't recall if there is a purchase date on it or not. There may be an issuing date, but then I suppose the seller could say that when he went to put the trailer on the market he couldn't find the title and had to get a duplicate (new) one.... What's one more fib?
R.
PS: Kevin, I agree that there's nothing really wrong with "flipping" (i.e. re-selling) a trailer. A person who intends to do so takes a calculated risk, much like buying and selling stocks. But I agree with you that the blatant lying (on both ends!) is really, really wrong.
(I can also see where "flipping" strikes a nerve with some people. Even though I logically don't think it's wrong, I have a bit of the same feeling. Maybe it's because many of us love these trailers a bit more than "just" inanimate objects, and so it almost feels like selling pets or something. I tend to buy high and sell low, though, so what do I know )
