Furnace?

I didn't see a furnace listed in the features. Does it have one? If not, can one be installed?

A furnace is standard in all Escapes, so this will definitely have one.

We are interested in the Escape, just want to know the weight for safety concerns with our tow vehicle.
Thank you so much for your replies.
The normal loaded weight of a 19' is 3700-3800 lbs. but some are up at the 4000 max allowed.

I do believe there is something awry with the listed shipping weight of of my 19. I have sent ETI an email asking for clarification (or basically - what am I not understanding?)

I weighed Ten Forward at a free Oregon scale when I left Champoeg last month. No freshwater, marginal gray water and black water (and how much stuff does a single traveler haul?)

Connected, on the axles only, Ten Forward weighed 3,250. YMMV

I would have guessed that my 19 easily weighed 2800-3000 lbs.

I believe you are close, Lisa. My Escape 19 was around 3400# wet, packed for camping and the sticker was 2900# dry with options. For Comparison, BlackJack on the scales came in at 3800# wet, so this means the extra axle and 18" size is the difference.

The furnace in the Escape is the Atwood #8012, which pulls less than 2 amps while operating, very efficient and great for boondockers on solar.

Thanks Jim.

I think the only way to be absolutely safe is to be sure the tow vehicle can handle 4000 lbs or more ...

Here is the reply from ETI:
The dry weight includes all of the standard features and the shipping weight of your trailer in included the weight of your trailer with the options added. It may be that your trailer’s certificate of origin is an older one which did not include the actual weight of your trailer just the Standard Dry Weight of the 19’ Escape.

At the end of 2013 we were required to change the Certificate of origin to include the Model and the actual Shipping Weight of each trailer. This was required by January 2014.

The available cargo weight is determined by the difference of your trailer’s specific weight and the GVWR. Therefore you can calculate your specific dry weight by taking the GVWR and subtracting the cargo weight. This will give you the weight of your trailer with full propane, batteries, and freshwater tank.

Yep - just my preference: although I love my u-shape dinette, it is far too challenging for me to take down and put up each time I need another bed (doing this by myself). I would now prefer a dinette that has a hinged table. Much easier to make into a bed!

Also - I have not used the external propane connection or the outdoor shower.

I would also add exterior access to the front bed.
