Original Casita Color Code

I can probably get this information via a call to Casita but for the sake of conversation, I will ask it here first. Has anyone come across an automotive paint color code that is a close match for the original Casita jell coat? I ask because I am filling a lot of holes on my Casita project which will require some painting and would like to go back to the original egg color.

My trailer is ridiculous. There are four holes, two on each upper corner, penetrating the shell simply to attach the little metal brackets that carry the curtain rods! I am also moving everything around in the interior so old holes that were once used to attach cabinets in their original positions are no longer needed.

Thanks!

You may run into several problems trying to match your Casita. To begin with, it didn't come from the factory painted, but in a gelcoat finish. Too, gelcoat changes color as it ages. While it may have been bright white when it left the factory, depending several factors it could be an antique or Dover white now. Wax, including the type, plus how the trailer was stored affect the gelcoat. You might find one side of the trailer (and roof) to be slightly different than the other side. Not enough that walking around the trailer makes it obvious, but when trying to match the gelcoat for paint... well, it may match on one side but not the other.

Good luck!

I figure kinda close is as good'nuff until I get around to painting the entire shell which won't happen this year cuz I plan to be out camping. Heck It may only be rattle can paint this year. But I thought maybe with the color number, I might find some kind of automotive color in touch up paint that would make her minimally presentable for this camping season. Thanks for your suggestions.

You can try a local automotive paint supplier, most are equipped with cameras that can shoot a pic of the color needed then come up with a mix formula. You could take a panel such as your door in or if the inside 'glass cabinets are the same as the exterior color you could take one of those in.

On my amerigo I used Rustoleum white enamel & kept tinting it with some almond Rustoleum until I came up with a close enough match to do my cargo doors.

Steve, How is the Rustoleum holding up in the UV sunlight? I might consider going this route if I am convinced that it will hold up over time.

It's been not quite a year since I painted them but they still look good, no fading. I've used black rustoleum on trailer frames before & after 2-3 years they're showing some chalking but it will buff/clean up fairly easily. I think if you keep it clean & waxed it will hold up fairly well.

I know me. I would find a color I liked and wind up painting the whole camper!
Roll and tip... I'm trying that next time....maybe...

I've filled holes in fiberglass boats by making a mixture of shredded fiberglass (its sold in a bag as a powder) and 2-part epoxy. use the slow set, not the fast... mix the two part epoxy, then stir in enough of the glass filler so its nice and thick, then pack it in the holes. after it cures hard, wet sand it smooth, then paint with gel coat (available at any marine supply), wet sand with finer and finer grits, then use a rubbing compound to buff it out and make it shiny again. do it right, and you'll never tell you did it..
