Hi 'Small-Scale': Perhaps I should have 'read' your forum
title more carefully? Like you, we are retired and have been 'OWNERS' of a '73 Boler' for the past 2 years; very slowly, considering how best to approach renovations, etc. We have been active RVers since 1965 (This is our 9th unit, having previously camped in (49) states, and (10) provinces). But, we're certainly NOT 'EXPERTS'.
For this recent acquisition, to date, we have 1. Built a specific shed 2. Removed the
Boler shell - sand-blasted and repainted the trailer frame - swapped out the
axle and
tires for new ones (adding 'brakes') and remounted the shell, 3. Stripped out much of the Boler's interior (but, not the ensolite!), 4. and, Removed all
windows.
We're now considering painting/refinishing the exterior shell, cleaning up the ensolite, before re-installing
windows, etc. and then perhaps building new wooden bed frames, cupboards, shelving, etc. to suit our personal needs (We're less concerned about either 'Kitchen' or 'Toilet' facilities, for our own use - 'future owners can modify as they wish'). Re-wiring, plumbing, etc. will follow. We don't expect to resume camping, for a year or so. As aging seniors, this Boler has been a fascinating 'hobby'.
But - these FGRV forums have been an EXCELLENT source of ideas, guidance, and options for us to cautiously consider through our plans. Didn't somebody recently say "Together, we can do it ?".
