Questions on our Beachcomber

So my husband and I bought the 1979 Beachcomber TM15 - now we are looking at replacing the floor and doing some re-configuring. There is no toilet in it. (obvoiusly the original busted and flooded the floor) We don't want to replace the toilet and want to put a bed across the back (kind of a day bed idea), but not sure if the small wall down the centre is a structural support. Can we take this wall out?
Also, could we work around the kitchen cabinetry and use some sort of wood stabilizer product under/around it rather than ripping out the entire kitchen to do the floor underneath? My husband is kind of leary about removing the furnace and fridge. Any input would be appreciated as we are newbies to this entire endeavour.

Hello, and congratulations on becoming beachcombers. As always, any questions on this site always get the most response when accompanied by pictures (we all seem to share a penchant for eye stimulus ). Now back to your questions. There are a few build threads already that you can look at to see the construction of the roof. Removing the wall should be fine as long as you have support, usually the closet, and metal scroll work between the kitchen and upper cabinets. This all depends on the condition of your roof bows though. You can pull the roof paneling down a bit and take a peek. If you suspect the floor to be rotten, it probably is. Once you start taking it apart, you will probably spend hours trying to figure out how to quickly patch it in a way that makes you feel as though you did a good job. Then you will tear the whole thing out and do it right ( I know this first hand ) Anyway take a look at the other beachcomber builds and get a feel for what is behind the walls. Ask any questions you have and someone will come along and answer. And post pics!
