I also painted our canoe to match.

The only problem i had was paining outdoors in the heat of the summer. I really had no choice so i use the topside paint thinner to slow the drying process. It was a bit tricky, but i eventually got the hang of it.

Have used the interlux paint on fiberglass over gelcoat in the past it worked well on our canoe another option would be gelcoat over gelcoat they sell it for about $200.00 per gallon our area and will colour match.
