Spoke with Jim Palmer this am- Bimini canopy will cost less than $500 and includes everything for installation. Comes in 2 other colors- does not hit the door if raised properly at the top. Weighs less than 10 lbs for everything compared to 70 lbs for the conventional box awning.
colors- scrambled eggs and robin's egg plus the green eggs and ham previous pic

I'd like that for our new Egg Camper but I can buy a free standing 9x9 (I think) from Walmart for $49.00 or another for $97.00. I'd gladly put in the time & effort to erect one of those for the big price difference.

500$$ seems a tad pricey for a small awning - Looks to be barely 6ft deep from the trailer? But I LOVE yellow color!!

Do you know who makes this?
Is it what they call a "bag awning"-does it store on the rail?
How does it deploy/stow?
Do you have to roll/unroll by hand?

Thanks

Francesca

Jim Palmer is the owner/manufacturer of Egg Camper. You call the factory and he answers the phone. Very interesting person, he builds custom airplanes also.
Anything you want or need to know about the Egg Camper, he is the man.

Jim said they are made by a marine/boat company near Egg Camper in Michigan. Dometic stopped offering him the conventional awning so he found a new source. The awning fits inside an awning rail, you take the awning down and stow it for travel, it weighs under 10 lbs. The old one weighed in excess of 70 lbs. It is not a bag awning, but I'm not sure why it can not be one.
The support poles can be attached to ground or to the trailer. It is 9 wide and 6' deep. Three colors.

Sure is pretty, but it sounds like a lot of trouble for the price...
Does the Eggcamper come with the awning rail installed, or is that part of what you get with Jim's package?

Thanks!

Francesca

If you buy a new Egg Camper and want the Bimini, he will install the awning rail. On the other hand he will sell you the complete kit, with rail and screws and awning if you already have an Egg Camper or Scamp/Casita.

I have a 10X10 Carefree free standing room I use with my Egg Camper, but I'm thinking of getting this awning to cover the transition area between the Egg and the free standing room or to use just the Bimini if I do not wish to set up the 10X10 room. Just gives me more options. I love the yellow color- "egg omelet"

......but $500 still seems very pricey for an awning this shallow. I think you'd need to tuck up very close to the camper to catch any shade. I wonder if they'll offer it in a deeper version? (8ft is the usual depth for small awnings). That yellow ROCKS!!

Wow!
That's quite a difference...is it available in that pretty Egg "Yolk" color?
Can you post a link?

I may be the guinea pig here and get one- that yellow color is just calling out to me-
