Cost of Trillium 1300 in 1978

So after 12 years I've decided I should probably get insurance on my 1978 Trillium 1300. They would like to know what it cost new back in 1978. I told them I paid $500 for it 12 years ago and am in the process of customizing it.

They also wanted the price of a brand new one which I found a couple and printed out. The two I printed appears to be the same but one is $12,996 sales price with a MSRP of $20,544 and the other is $17,525.

I've got the registration from the previous owner who bought it new, even has his SSN on it. I'm think I might try to have the DMV check the title for cost but I'm not sure they will. I'm going to call Trillium and see what they say but doubt that will work.

Anyone have any ideas?

That is the whole problem. I thought it would have been about $3000 to $4000. My agent pointed out to me, as if I didn't know, that it was now an antique. I'm thinking in the end I will have to get an appraisal just like I had to do with my truck. I'm think that was another reason she wanted the cost of a new one.

Calling your trailer an antique sounds like a way to increase the premium. The classified archives have page after page of trailers sold through this web site.

Interesting - if you scroll back a few pages on the link; on page 92 you find the Radio Shack TRS-80 dot matrix printer. You can get up to 132 characters per line with the impressive 5x7 pin print head and ribbon cartridge. For only $1299.95

That was the era when printer specs were given in charcters per second or minutes per page. If you really want to howl, have a look at this catalogue:

Some of the TRS-80 computer systems in it were twice the price of the Trillium of the day. Those included 4 massive external drives that give you up to 2 MB of combined storage.

I mean really... does it MATTER, it's supply and demand. Find out what year trailer yours is currently selling for (same/similar condition) and you should be OKAY. If not, find a different insurance agent.

Alright I just really wanted to do that but I'm not serious.

It is in fact an antique (OK maybe a classic) and she said it wouldn't cost much. I will find out in the near future. I will try to do a search and see what I come up with for ads. I did tell her what it might cost to replace it from the prices of what they are from this site.
