1975 Trillium - Stove Top

Has anyone replaced their propane stove top with an induction stove top? If so what induction stove top did you buy and how easy was it to install?

We went with a True Induction TI-2B (two burner) unit in the Scamp.

I remember being pleased with where the existing reinforced parts of the counter were for the old propane unit, but we did reinforce with a vertical piece of plywood left of the refrigerator to make sure the weight wasn't a problem.

This unit has worked well. Hauled 4000 miles ok. We dragged into the house for a few months to have extra burners (right now we are renovating our house and only have a single Induction burner in the house - needed more for Christmas and it stayed there until our next Scamp trip)

Why would you do that? It limits you to parking in campsites with electricity.

For us the decision was based on the camping we've done. We often camp without power, but want to be able to run the A/C (and microwave). So as a result we're already running with generators. When we cook without power or sometimes just for preference we typically use the grill...we are often at social gatherings and prefer to cook out with friends.

Hubby also wasn't wild about the heat the gas burners gave off. Those upper cabinets stay a lot cooler since we made the change.

We do still keep the propane for the fridge. We don't run the generators full time.
