Also gutting Ventura

Hi Sheepdog,
I bought a Ventura several weeks ago and am where you were about 3 months ago. I did not intend to gut the trailer but found many disturbing areas once I got it home and it quickly became evident that I had no choice.
I noticed that yours does not have a continuous step up across the front floor like mine does. Is that how it came or did you make a change? Is the raised part on the passenger side where the water tank is? Did you ever find and take it out? I am curious about the paneling you used and how you attached it.
Sorry for all the ques but any help would be appreciated.
Pat

I'm not shire what you mean by thestep but I can tell you how I paneled mine..
I took one if the original staples to a hardwesr store. Got the closest match for size so I can staple the new up

I gently took panels off and is pnael 1 and marked on the beams where panel 1 was...the panels I took off ibhad my dad cutuseing as a pattern
For the panels I got vinyal wraped panels and then we out together like a puzzle and stapled on. Were I got panels they had marching trim for the gaps hope thstbhelos some

Thanks, Kim

By step up, I meant the raised floor (about 5 inches) at the front of the trailer. Mine goes all the way across but on his pictures there is a flat section in the centre. I was wondering if he made a change or if there was two different original plans.
Where did you get your panels? I like the idea of not having any further finishing to do once they are up. I was thinking of birch plywood but it would have to be stained and varathaned.

The front area on mine had the center area at floor level with a fiberglass tub for a portapotty. There was a door covering the tub.

The water tank was under the rear floor area behind the axle. It was covered by a steel plate. I think you will find the tank is rotten and broken and new tanks are no longer available (where made here in Edmonton and were the same tanks used in Boler 13')

sounds like everyone answered the questions! I also used staples and a pneumatic air gun. I can get the size of staples I used if you like. I also used some "No More Nail" in some of the corners or sections where I felt it needed more than just staples. For paneling I used a vinyl wrapped panel board. similar to what came out just a different color. As for the step at the front. That is how it came. I believe that is where the porta potty went. I am actually converting it into a small dinette/front couch area! hopefully that helped you some

Ques for Dudley and thanks

Thanks everyone for your help. I am going into the city tomorrow to shop for
materials for the trailer. Nice to have more ideas.
Dudley, was it you who used the 3/4 inch metal to strengthen the ceiling framing? if so, do you recall where you bought it and how it was attached to the wooden ribs?

That technical drawing is missing a number of the critical dimensions. I wonder why that is? Security clearance required?

Looking good Sheepdog! You going with paint or stain?

Patricia D , the stuff I used was 3/4 square aluminum and should be available at any large hardware store in the hardware section. Metal suppliers should also have it. I was given a few pieces.

I guess it doesn't really show in the pictures but I used maple melamine, so it is an already finished product!

Thanks! it has for sure been a lot of work! try and keep all your old pieces as it is very helpful! I ended up using the old seat frames which made things a little easier!

Do you happen to have any pictures of yours?

I will post pics tonight after I finish for the day.
I am going to start a new thread in the Venture forum for renovation progress and post them there. I seem to be getting too many threads going and even I am getting confused.
