David - I forgot to mention that its so 'worth it'. We spent a couple hours every night or second night, and a couple of full weekends over the last 2 months. If you and your wife are doing it together, its good bonding time...believe me, you'll love eachother more or kill...... It's all good. I will be posting the totally finished pictures in the next couple of weeks.

Red face ventura No.3

Hi there guys and girls, I lost my 72 boler in a fire and I've just bought a Ventura (1974), well it was a couple of months back, and not been able to use yet , got to fix the wiring , and fit a new vent, I should replace the roof panal as it is quite soft from the leaking vent. I would like to make a front diner like I did in the boler , but we'll see .
Jim , Upsala ,on, canada.

I will check, I had some posted up for free here but no one asked for any so I think I tossed them. I will check the garage and let you know. I recommend that you replace them all when you have the interior out as they get pretty corroded and are very cheap at places like Princess Auto(think the whole light was on sale for $2). You can do it from the outside by cutting the wires and splicing but much easier to do it while everything is apart. The light was made by Dominion Auto and I think they are long out of production.

When we bought the Hobbit Hilton, Ventura 1972, we thought we had a leak around the rear window. After stripping out the rotten interior wall we discovered that the window was fine - It was the overhead running lights that were the problem. They have been replaced and caulked properly and the interior wall replaced.

Being flat, it actually quite simple to make a new door without going to great expense. We used knotty cedar with many layers of Marine Varnish. The wood is thick enough that we added two towel racks on the interior. We opted not to replace the window, but this can always be added if we change our minds.

Happy Trails,
Hobbit Hilton & Crew.
