Sometimes you are time limited, where the opportunity requires long days driving or you miss out.
Back in my JOB working days, I took one driving trip to AK, drove from SC. I had one week's vacation, which meant nine days total (two weekends plus five weekdays). Spent less than one hour in AK, turned around and drove home. 8,000 miles in 9 days. Needless to say, I didn't see much! Border crossing back into Canada was kind of interesting. "How much time did you spend in Alaska?" "Less than an hour." "No one drives to AK from SC and spends an hour in AK." "I'm out of vacation." "Pull over there." They searched the heck out of my vehicle.
The road trip I am planning to AK in August will be five weeks long.
