I don't really see the Oliver and Escape as competitors. They're quite different. The Oliver is more like a fiberglass alternative to a high end trailer like an Airstream. The Escape is more like an upgraded version of traditional eggs. It all depends on what are your must haves, and how much you're willing to spend.

Or if you don't mind a little table for two where you can't have friends over for cards without rearranging the beds.

What are you talking about? With one of the floorplans, you get one huge dinette (that makes a bed) and the small one. You could host at least 6 people.

Yeah, I didn't get that either Ron. The Oliver can seat many people - comfortably.

I'll try to translate,

"The Escape 21 has a four place dinette in addition the the bed. If you entertain, you might enjoy that floorplan. In an Oliver, you would have to convert the beds to a dinette. Have a nice day."

If we ever go bigger from our Casita it will be with the Escape. I've seen many at the rallies and being able to leave the bed up and still have a nice size dinette up is the way I want to go.

Hi: fr2bhpy... Besides having a U shaped dinette we have a full queen bed with for/aft sleeping position. Oliver doesn't build a trailer like the Escape 5.0TA.

I'd say big enough is better. Bigger than big enough is badder.

I love my Oliver and would not trade it for anything, but the Escape is a great buy due to the exchange rate. I priced one for fun and fully loaded it came to about $28,000 US. Now that's a good deal.

So does the Escape 19' - full time rear bed in addition to a 4 person front dinette.

Can't argue with perfect logic like that! Although I would have said "more worser" instead of badder.

If you ever watch Ron's video tour of the Oliver, you cant help but "ooh" and "ah" over its features. The Oliver is a "class act". And, I live the next town over from them.

BUT, they're totally out of my price range. Therefore, in my opinion, and based on "customer satisfaction" I've seen on here, the Escape wins it! And if I get another FG trailer, the Escape is the one I will zero in on.

Personally, I also like their more "modern" look over the "retro".

Oliver or Escape

Olivers are a breed apart. Superb trailer in every respect. If you have the funds then by all means.

I don't really see the choice as being between an Oliver and an Escape. They appeal to slightly different clientele. I am extraordinarily happy with my Escape and it more than meets MY needs. Get what meets yours.

Hey Mike Kelley

Bigfoot, Oliver and Escape are all fantastic, well-built trailers. I would be proud to own any one of these brands. But they have some fundamental differences.

Bigfoot is the only actual 4-season trailer of this group. This category includes good insulation, double-pane windows, enclosed tanks, AND a ducted heating system that circulates to the plumbing and tanks. Depending on where you live, you may not need this much winter camping capability, but Bigfoot has it.

The last I looked into the cold-weather upgrades from Bigfoot and Oliver, they do not include the furnace system that ducts heat to the plumbing and tanks. Very few actually need this anyway, unless you are camping in extended below freezing conditions. I have spent time in late season hunting camps that can be sub-zero for days. The Bigfoot keeps everything working - as long as I keep the furnace on.

Another difference is the width of the cabin. The Bigfoot is the only one with 8 foot width. I believe most other FG trailers are around 6 1/2 feet. This may not seem like much, but a little width adds a lot of spaciousness. Way easier for two people to pass in the aisle, for example. On the downside, the width catches more wind on the highway, and it's harder to see down the sides when backing. Oliver and Escape are both more aerodynamic than a Bigfoot which can help with mileage and handling.

I have toured Olivers and Escapes and they are really well-made and appointed trailers. You would be happy with either one if you find the right deal. At this point in my life, camping in sub-zero weather isn't something I need to be doing either. So my next trailer may not necessarily be a Bigfoot.

Not true. Oliver is 4 season as we've posted about many times. The furnace puts heat into the areas between the hulls where the ranks reside. Additionally, I have tank heaters.

Thanks for the update on Oliver technology. The Oliver I saw was being shown by the company owner within a year of the first edition. I discussed with him the available upgrades at that time. I am very happy that they have a true 4-season capability now.

At that time, I thought the Oliver was the most innovative, well built FG trailer ever. Still think so.
