I am so glad you have not parted with your money on this one. A small consolation is that you may wasted a lot of the scammer's time. This smells of fraud, which I think is more serious, but hard to prosecute if it did not go beyond an attempt. I may be wrong. There is another Scamp 19 out there somewhere waiting to be discovered, and it is real, Keep looking!

The Vermont DMV has only four characters to describe the make on the registration, so mine is officially a SCAM. How is that?

Take it from one who was scamed on craigs list...This smelled real bad.
Glad your money is safe and another will come your way.
A said if your money was given and it's a scam...you loose your money unless you bring civil suit but just try and get money from a stone.

We bought our Scamp in FL almost 7 years ago. Fortunately the seller agreed to meet us at DMV and we did all the paperwork right there, which really put my mind at ease.
Sorry it doesn't seem to be working out. I was toying with the idea of driving down there to check it out for a couple weeks now, it definitely does look like a nice Scamp.
Still debating if I want to jump to a 5er and be obligated to continue owning a pickup, or sticking with a bumper pull and getting a van.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Dave/John, Marilyn - all three of you would be very happy with the way the Scamp 5th tows. Head wind, tail or side, pretty much no worries about the weight distribution, etc. Keep the truck is what I'd say. And besides, you have the majority in this vote.

Apparently there are two names on the title with an "or"

into the tag office in town on Tuesday and reported a
lost title and had a replacement issued.

My contact had no explanation for this. Apparently he has
the older (i.e. lost) title.

Whoever actually owns it must know something strange is
afoot and decided to report a lost title and get a new one.

Ah - life...

Glad I still have my money in my pocket!

Watch out folks...!

how to run a vin check

In Florida, there is a link on the DMV website. It's a little hard to find,
but it's there. If you google your state and something like "vin check"
it should come up. It will tell you the name on the title and when it was issued.
