OMG...Scamper Peeps!!!

Ok, we just returned from the Scamp Rally at Highlands Hammock! WOW! We had been corresponding with Stretcher (Dave) who invited us to see his rig but wow, he and his wife were amazing! They went above and beyond!

First taking us on a fab tour of their rig and then, taking us over to see two others..finally meeting a 3rd scamper and wife who live in our town! We jumped in their truck to see their rig and hung out chatting for a bit only to find people we knew in common.

Walking back to our car, we were invited into the most amazing rig with so many fab modifications that I fell in love!!

Next weekend, we get to see the Escape fiver and can hardly wait to see how it stands up against the scamps...it is going to have to go some to beat what we saw today!

Thanks EVERYONE!!!

Sally and Kyle

For clarification purposes only:
SCAMP is the name of the molded fiberglass towable trailers on this site
SCAMPER is the name used by a company that makes a sticky slide-in truck camper, most of which have lift-up (aka pop-up) tops.
Some years ago SCAMP and SCAMPER apparently went to court over names and, for a short period, what we know as a SCAMP was called the ACORN.

How exciting, sounds like you had a wonderful introduction.
Most of the people I have met in the fiberglass community have been just how you describe.
Make sure to report back on the next episode

If you liked the Scamps, hold onto your hat when you see the Escape.

Good for you Sally and Kyle I too have been inside some absolutely gorgeous Scamp 5ers. My suggestion is to WRITE down everything you liked about the Scamps. Don't rely on your memory. When you see the Escape 5er, do a comparison. Remember, this is about you and your needs. Not us. By my signature you can tell that about me.

Best of luck!

Great advice, Donna! We all suffer from leaky brain syndrome and forget half of what we saw within a day of seeing it.

Bob, I believe the pop-up maker (truck campers and tent trailers) is spelled "Skamper." My family owned one back in the 70's, and a Google search turned up newer ones, now also including hybrid travel trailers, so it looks to be still in business under the same name, same spelling. I didn't turn up anything searching "Scamper" (except Scamps).
