Just picked up a set (3) of 15X7 rims for my '82 13-foot
Burro. I've wanted to go bigger than the 13's that came with the trailer, although 15x7 may be too much of a good thing. They didn't cost much, so no great loss, but it would be nice if they worked out.
I put a new 20-degree down
axle on a month ago that gives me about 12 or 13 inches of clearance - about 4 inches more than it had with the old
axle. We drive a lot of rough roads and scraped the heck out the bumper and the tongue jack a bunch of times before I put the new
axle on.
The current wheelset is about 23 inches in diameter with
tires. If my math is right, the 15's would be about 26 inches if I put 195/70/r15's on, or just over 26 with 205/70r15's. 26 inches is likely cutting it pretty close.
The current width is a little more than 4 inches and the new width would be about 8 inches, which seems possible, albeit tight.
I think something like a 175/75/r14 might be a smarter choice, but I saw these on craigslist and thought why not?
