Bigfoot plumbing vents

The caps that that cover my plumbing vents are pretty beat up, but I have had no joy in trying to replace them.

I bought one of the above vents, which look a lot like the original, but it has no where near the flexibility to curve round the corner where the vent cover must be placed.

I visited the Bigfoot homepage and certainly don't have anything that looks like a parts department. I also suspect they didn't make them this way for long because they have 16 screws in them, and are really hard on the fiberglass.

Anyone have any ideas?

I just went out and had a look at my vent cap. Your trailer must have it
in a different location. Mine sits flat on the roof, has 8 screws holding
it down, and looks very similar to your illustration. It sounds as though
yours must be on the edge of the roof.

I don't know how practical it would be, but the rubber seals for use around
residential pluming stacks are pretty flexible (although I don't remember
seeing one with a cap). My father-in-law once patched his roof vent with,
what else, fibreglass. You might be able to use it to custom form a vent
or a collar for your new vent if you can't find a suitable one available.

I notice in checking out my own vent that it is in need of some platicote
around the bottom to seal it, so I thank you for your question.:reyes

I changed my vent caps on my boler and i went to metal.They bend to contour so worked for me.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm also wondering if I can turn the black 2" pipe that's the actual stack into one of these:

by just bracing it at the base and adding a Tee to the top.

The metal ones at the RV store woudn't do it, but I didn't look at Home Depot's wares yet. That might be a possibility.

How about using a heat gun to create the flexibility you need (without melting it, of course)

Soak it in hot water for a few minutes and you will be able to form it to whatever shape you want.

Yeah! I think I'll try the hot water before the heat gun. Water doesn't usually get me into trouble.

Dumping the vents in hot water worked great! I have half as many screws drilled through the vent as they put in during the original installation-- they stuck in 16!!-- and it lays down very nicely.
