As Donna said, ALWAYS keep the black water valve CLOSED except when dumping.
For full hookups we usually hook up the black water to the sewer with an elbow which has a garden hose fitting on the other side which is hooked to the open graywater tank through an adapter cap.
Shore water is hooked up through a filter and a pressure regulator.
The filter is more to keep our trailer system clean than any other reason.
The regulator is to protect the trailer system from damage from over pressure.
Electricity is hooked to shore power through a 30A detachable cord when 30A power is available. We do carry 15A/20A adapters (both ways) and a 12GA extension cord.
One odd thing...
We have a plastic sewer fitting which seals to the sewer opening, but we have found many places which arbitrarily require a soft foam seal at the sewer. Its a bit clumsy and works no better, but we carry one just for that contingency!

Floyd, You're using exactly what I think I need. I wish lived closer so I could visit and see how your trailer is fitted.

We have found the RED fittings and hoses to be top quality .

the picture is the graywater sewer cap.
Here is the fitting to which I referred and below that the type of hose...

We picked up our 16' in Backus on January 4th, 2014. We managed to get up there from Colorado, pick up the Scamp and "get out of Dodge" just before the infamous Polar Vortex driven weather of Jan '14. A somewhat nervy endeavor on our part, but we were prepared to get stuck for awhile waiting on weather if need be. Having an open time frame was key to making this work. We came up through Sioux Falls SD and worked our way up to Backus from there. The scenery in Minnesota was fantastic. Lots of huge farms that are all obviously doing very well. I won't likely get up there again soon and was glad to get to see it all.
The orientation was great. As a former boat liveaboarder I was pretty familiar with the mechanical systems, but they would have taken as much time as we needed to get checked out. Unfortunately, we missed out on the factory tour as we were eager to get going before we got socked in by approaching weather. We may have set a record for turn-around time at the Scamp factory. We made it to a casino in SD for the first night. The parking lot was like a skating rink the next morning but the roads were in surprisingly good shape. The next night we found a small private campground and, once again had the whole place to ourselves! Temps were well below zero both nights but the factory heater was more than up to the task, as long as we stayed inside the Scamp!
Heading up to Backus, it was all green and blue. Heading back home it looked like this:

Morgan, we missed you by a couple days. We must have hit the height of the Polar Vortex. We went up to Backus from the Chicago area. We hit a blizzard through most of WI, and then bitter cold (-20F) in Northern MN.

While we were up there, we heard on the radio that the Zoo in Chicago moved the Polar Bears inside because it was so cold! We just went up on a lark to look the trailers over and put an order together for a summer pick-up. It's about 460 miles, but we were in a Subaru, so no problem.
