Tire size for Ventura...

Hi everyone,

My 76 Ventura currently has 185/80R13 on her, but I was wondering if that was the original tire size or if the previous owner change the size.

What tire size are other Ventura owns running?

Anyone have any recommendations on a good trailer tire? I've called around and every tire shop has a different brand that they say is the best.

There are 2 readily available trailer tires for 13 inch wheels. 175-80-13 or the slightly larger 185-80-13. Either one should work just fine. The 175's are much easier to find. Do you prefer larger or easier to find ?? There is no wrong answer to the question. The 185's are about 3/8 of an inch wider and about 5/8 inch larger in diameter.

That tire would be just fine. Let me point out one other thing. The letter "D" in the nomenclature stands for bias ply ,while a letter R stands for radial construction. Radials last longer, bur bias tires are used a lot on trailers because they cost less and very few trailer tires are used to the point where they wear out.

Just got 2 tires 175/80r13 Carlisle C rated trailer radials for $78 each at Kal-Tire. Total cost with them changing the tires and taxes was $220. Best deal I could find in Winnipeg.
