As you can see the inside needs lots of work. Someone put plastic bags all over camper and also used the expanding insulation into seams.

Looks like you have yourself a pretty big project, Deborah. Not unlike what I am taking on with mine. Not sure if you have seen the thread about the rebuild yet, but I will link to it. Still a long ways to go with mine, but it will be finished some day soon.

How far do you intend to go with this rebuild? Maybe share some photos of the exterior, and even more of the interior too. Lots of possibilities, just fixing it good enough to keep you dry, to a complete rebuild. Trust me, you can get quite involved if you wish.

I would start with a thorough cleaning though. Wash everything down real good. Then make an assessment of areas that absolutely need addressing, and those that you would like to fix up in time.

In the bottom picture is where I believe the top bunk tore into the wall.
I took a flash light and the fiberglass is intact. Wondering if I should go over top of the ensolite or try to repair it. A good cleaning is in store for sure. Oh, about the frame recall where do I go for info about that?

The trailer I am rebuilding is a '76, so is in the group affected, and I plan to get the reinforcing done, though I can't see any visible sign of a crack.

Front Frame Recall Notice
In an attempt to strengthen the trailer frame, heat treating was done during certain model years in the mid 70's. It turned out to be a bad decision. A crack developed in the frame where the bolts go through. Notices were sent to owners on file for reinforcing gussets to be added. Since about 30 years have passed since they were built, any that would fail due to non-repair, would probably have done so by now.
However, owners should periodically check the frame under the front body where the bolts go through. If a crack develops, the frame must be reinforced immediately with these gusset plates.
This is not an expensive repair. Any good welding shop can do it in 1 - 2 hours.

Deborah, you have taken on a large job. You know that right?

Well, the expanding foam has to go. The Ensolite can be repaired / reattached. Some paint-able calk to fill in the holes, and you won't notice them, especially if you paint.

Bleach the Ensolite to get rid of the mold. Just use a cloth and gloves to wipe it down with diluted bleach. 25% bleach, 75% water. Might want to keep the windows open.

Speaking of Windows. Some of that foam looks like it was meant to stop a leak. The windows should be removed, then the wood frame holding them in needs to be inspected. If rotten, the frames need to be replaced. New butyl tape and screws and no more leaks.

Your trailer has an ice box, and no heater. Nice clean exterior. If you plan to add a fridge, I would suggest a 12VDC / 120VAC compressor style. They are not cheep, but you won't have to cut the big vents that a propane fridge would require. This would preserve the street side logo, which would be destroyed by a propane fridge.

I have started to peal the foam off. What a crazy thing to have put that stuff all throughout the camper. Also I have found that using peroxide in place of bleach works much better at killing the mold.

Do you have to prep the Ensolite before you paint it ?

I'd clean it, but I have never painted mine. Use a vinyl based paint. The cream coloured stuff is vinyl.

Hi David ,
I'm back, I have been the lucky receiver of dumped puppy. New puppies are very time consuming if trained right. I want him to be a camping dog and eventually a service dog. My 160 lb Rottie was the best camping dog he never touched the screen door and everyone loved him. I'm hoping this little boy will be as well behaved and enjoy camping.
Ok why I'm here wondering what I can use or adapt for a door lock on the Trillium 1300 "1974" I have no key for it. It may work if there were a key.
Do you have any suggestions ? Any help will be great appreciated.

Deborah, while I don't have a 1300, I found a BBQ skewer, the metal chrome ones with the ring handle made an emergency key for my door lock.

I have a 4500 that the PO drilled a hole in the handle, and mounted an eye bolt under the handle, so that a pad lock would keep someone from pulling the handle.
