Prpoane Furnace for 79 Surfside Triple e

My previous camper (tent trailer) had a blower fan on the propane furnace. My triple e doesn't seem to have a blower fan or else if it does it's not working properly. I have it set to 120 v on the converter and is plugged into a 120 volt house receptacle.

Is it normal for some furnaces to not have a fan and just use convection heat. I've just purchased the triple e this week.

Yep, no fan. Advantage is that furnace is not a big power draw, nor is the fan noisy. Still throws plenty of heat.

If your furnace is a convection heater (what make and model is it?), which it likely is if it is a 1979, then it will work with no electrical power consumption at all. Even if you have a wall thermostat like I do, it runs from a thermocouple which generates the required electricity from the flame in the furnace. So, you never have to worry about running out of battery when using the furnace, only about running out of gas.

I'm plugging into a 110 volt source. I have no schematic of the trailer wiring. I know the 110 volt line from (shore power) feeds the converter. There is a line coming in from the battery also. There's a thick brown wire that runs from the converter to the 3 way fridge.

When I switch over to 12 v converter setting, my interior lights all work. I haven't tried the fridge yet, but I would think it will also run on off the 12v side of the converter. My propane detector doesn't seem to work on 12v converter system, nor does the single 110/115 receptacle on the converter face.

The furnace I was just curious to know if it had a fan or not, as I was afraid it may overheat, as I notice the drawer trim above the furnace grate has melted somewhat over the years.

Think I got off topic here, but I really would like to upgrade the converter, but not sure what models are best suited to the Triple e. Reason for upgrading would be to have inverted power from the battery to the receptacle, and a smart charging circuit to charge the battery whilst on shore power.

Hope this clears up the plug in question,

Ed
