1977 Surfside, door lock

Help

Finally retired and on a cross Canada Trip and my metal door lock, will not lock. The door closes and latches, but will not lock from the inside or outside.
Currently in Vancouver BC.

Can I get a replacement lock?

Any advise is appreciated!

Take it apart and clean and lube it. I don't know what that trailer has for a door latch, but our Uhaul that has the big square Bargman L300, it wouldn't lock on the inside unless the key was in the center of it's travel. I took ours apart, cleaned it, and lubed it with white grease, the key still has to be in the right position to lock it on the inside.

I believe the problem is in the locking mechanism, being worn?

I will need to take it apart to be sure.

Can I buy a replacement lock, somewhere?

I don't know what that trailer uses for the door lock so I can't answer where to get one. If you can figure out what it is, then look on ebay, check out vintage trailer, and fletchers trailer sales. I was hoping someone here with the same trailer could help you. Bob

my surfside has a bargman 400 so i assume yours is the same
it is no no longer made

i replaced mine with a modern one however it is quite a job.

if you are in vancouver i would say check with Escape trailers in chilliwack for advice and possible repair
