wanted a MiniCooper and hubby came home with Casita

Greeting from Oregon, and new owner of a 17' Freedom Deluxe. My husband found a used 2010 and bought it on the spot. He was supposed to looking for a MiniCooper, I guess he thought I said Mini Trailer. Being a camping virgin, I'm a little nervous. I've been reading the forums here, and it's been reassuring because everyone is so friendly and helpful.

Hey Diane, welcome to FiberglassRV!! ooooh we have members that live not far from you in Clatskanie, Hillsboro, etc.

In the end, you're gonna love the Casita and I bet it lasts a lot longer than a mini.

Think about joining a bunch of us camping at Champoeg SP in October Here's a link to all the info on the CasitaForum: Northern Oregon Gathering - Fall Event - Casita Travel Trailer Forum

Falling in Love

We previously never had camped and planned to do it for three years to 'take a break'. This is year 11. The life of a camper is so relaxing; actually relaxing almost doesn't describe it.

To us, it is extremely enchanting providing a new view everyday and not just of the marvelous vistas we discover.

Diane, having been a camper/rv'er basically since I was 4 years old as well as my husband and I owned and operated a Big Rig park, I have ran across many a newbie. My recommendation is to try all types of camping out first for a few days here and there. To determine what you like best.

A lot of your camping style will determine where and for how long you will camp. I am more of a use the Casita for traveling versus the boon-docker camper that likes to camp out in the middle of nowhere without services. A couple of day's and I am over it. But would rather use the Casita to travel and see things. Best of luck, Welcome to our world and Congrat's on the Casita!

I'm with Donna D. The Camper will outlast the Mini and be worth more later on down the road. You should thank your husband for making such a wise investment.

It's a good thing you did not ask him to get some ice cream, he may have come home with an Airstream!!

Good choice! You'll find that the Casita is more reliable and easier to work on than a Mini. ;-)

The most amazing aspect of these fiberglass units is that they can outlive you.

no, he spent the fund on the trailer, I'm not mad though, if I really hate camping, I'll sell the trailer and get the car, if I like camping, I'll forget about the car

No car can change your life; a trailer can change your life.

Actually, if one thinks back, their first car certainly changed their life!! But now that we are older and wiser, the camper is the way to go.

Some truth in that, it meant I had to go to work to pay for the car and the insurance....little did I know I'd be doing it for 38 years or so.....
