painting popcorn insulation of boler?

Hi all

Just curious if anyone has painted the popcorn wall insulation of a boler and what type of paint did u use? I know I couild rip it all out and start new but its in pretty good shape other than a slight yellowing so paint makes sense.

Thanks!

I have popcorn insulation in my surfside and it was really stained so I painted it with kitchen and bath room paint. That was 2 years ago and it is still great.

Oil or water base? Did you prime with anything first?

Thanks!

Hey, I want to paint the interior popcorn foam insulation too. When I suggested painting it my husband was concerned that it might crack? Have you found that the paint has held up well?

paint

well it has been nearly three years now and it looks just great . don't forget that i used kitchen / bathroom paint, that is moisture and mold resistant.
i only used one coat, but you can wipe off any dirty hand prints.

I used Kilz Primer first and then a good quality exterior white paint inside my first Boler that I co-owned with my son. He still owns that Boler and the paint is holding up very well 6 years later.

Just did my 1980 Boler last week. Washed the inside down with TSP, let it dry and painted it. Used latex paint with a fluffy roller on the popcorn and a brush on all the trim.

If you use TSP make sure you rinse with clean water (several times).

Better yet, use ammonia instead of TSP, just make sure to keep the space well ventilated.
