Trailer: Boler (B1700RGH) 1979

I like the idea of selective use for vehicles of collector value. It makes no sense to me to put an operable vehicle on a pedestal, since it can only be fully appreciated when the rubber hits the road; at the same time, there's no point in wearing it out without justification.

I would take it camping when it would be particularly appreciated, and use something more common for less ideal conditions, or when there wouldn't be people around who would appreciate it. This is the approach taken by some car collectors, and I don't see how it applies any less to a trailer. In fact, since there's no engine to wear out, it makes sense to me to use a trailer more.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

It seems like I will be going to the Oregon ralley! The Los Angeles Times article has been syndicated all over The country and made it to Medford, Oregon, where this trailer was built in 1960. Since this is something from their past, they have asked me to bring it to them for showing. A few people have called the paper and mentioned that they remember working on the trailer and they have strories to tell. They are running another article with more details about the manufacturing of this trailer on Sunday, November 26, 2006.

I know I will enjoy it at least a couple of times before I sell it to the right person, or a museum!

Probably the only spots left are in C Loop(?), if this trailer doesn't get people to walk that far during the trailer tours...nuthin' would!

What is "C LOOP"? Do I need to do something soon? Reservations? What? Where? Whom? When? And how?

MAKE RESERVATIONS MONDAY! The park will be completely full before too long.

This link is all the scoop, for the when and where, click the "sticky" at the top:
2007 Oregon Gathering You may have better luck talking to a real person at ReserveAmerica (info in the topic).

Bet we're close to 100 trailers right now.

I agree with Donna, if you want to come to the Oregon Gathering you should make reservations right away. The www.ReserveAmerica.com website is easy to navigate, and I'd recommend using it today rather than waiting until Monday. If you click on campground map and then click on each loop, you'll see where the available sites are located. Clicking on those sites on the map will show you detailed info about them, and will help you choose which site is best for you. (Driveway length, amount of shade, etc.)

We sure hope to see you there!

I agree with Jeanne. I just checked reserveamerica and there's only 27 sites left.

890 Miles from LA to Brandon, Oregon?!???
That is about 1,800 Miles round trip. Is this considerd normal to travel to a 2-day ralley?
It will take at least 2 days/nights to get there Right? Any advise is appreciated.

Bardy,
On the Casita Travel Trailer Forum the webmaster asked a series of questions about rallies in the form of polls. One poll asked "how far would you travel for a rally". 24% of the respondents said "anywhere" and 10% said "1000 miles to 1500 miles". Are any of us 'normal'? I don't know. DW thinks we're crazy to drive 2,300 miles one-way to the Oregon Rally.

Trust me, you wouldn't be even close to being one of those that travels the furthest to come to the Oregon Gathering....let's see, we've had folks from Georgia, Florida, Minnesota, Arizona, Texas, Saskatchewan, Yellow Knife Northwest Territories, etc., etc....well, you get the picture. The end point IS the Oregon Gathering, but it's a vacation both directions. Last year, a group out of Arizona/California continued on up to Alaska. Can't give you any advise, 'cause I'm going to be there! Although the gathering itself is only 2-3 days, some of us are in the campground for a week. Bunches of things to see and do in the Bandon area. You'd make A LOT of people very happy if they could meet you and see this unusual trailer. Sounds like there's quite a group in the Medford area wanting the same thing....by that point you'd be most of the way there!

By making a reservation now, you give yourself the option of coming to the Oregon Gathering... soon all the campsites at Bullards Beach will be filled, and then that option is gone. The worst case scenerio if you do get reservations and then decide not to come, is that you're out the $6 reservation fee, the actual campsite fees will be credited back to your charge card. So, there's very little risk and much to gain by making reservations!

If you focus on the destination, sometimes you miss the joy in the journey.

In 2005, I considered attending my 1st Oregon Gathering. However, I had a conflict with my family's reunion in upstate New York. I wound up driving from San Diego to Syracuse, then from Syracuse to Bandon. My 6800 miles came in as 1st runner up for the distance prize. But I learned so much on that trip.

Early in this discussion, Bardy, you mentioned looking for someone to travel with. Ideally this is an experience to be shared. So many Hollywood "Road Trip" movie plots are built upon this premise.

We still work and can’t justify traveling that far for a weekend, even the Oregon Rally. We take a two week vacation and make the Rally the last weekend.

Last year we went to Canada to visit friends, stopped at my dad’s for his 91st birthday in Washington, and then went to the Oregon Rally. Along the way, we do a little ”bird-walking” (take little side trps here and there).

It made the whole trip really fun and memorable and worked for us. We plan to go again this year, but we are swinging through Idaho to see my brother’s new house.
