My 1972 Cloud

Welcome!!!
FYI: you will find lots and lots of spelling errors- sorry get over it

So this is my 1972 Cloud, it belonged to my grandpa and it has been sitting in the yard for a long time....

I took up the job of restoring it...however i am not going for original, i am updating it to make it more livable and comfortable as i will be living in it full time for the summer!!

So as you can see there was a lot of fiberglass to fix, some old vents some accidental holes and one crazy stove pipe hole in the roof... i dont know why my grandpa had that cute little wood stove put in it did not do very well at heating for the amount of wood it needed and how small the wood needed to be to fit in the darn thing...

So the fiberglass journey begins with a grinder with stripping the old vent ripping out old interior lining and taking a angle grinder with a fiberglass wheel. prep work is dirty work.

then making the molds for the big holes and pre-cutting the fiberglass pices. the molds are simple cardboard wrapped in plastic wrap. becouse of the curve of the walls i had to use a little

at this point camera batteries died so there are no pictures of the fiberglass application or the sanding or painting... i will post pictures of finished paint job
Stay tuned...

that will be a nice trailer once its all done.

I find these are the best looking trailers out of that (cloud/burro/uhaul) design. Really like how the windows (front/Rear) aren't swollen/bulging out like on the uhaul and burro trailers. wish there were more of these around to buy.

only thing I don't like about the cloud trailer is the rear bumper.

but nice trailer, good luck

Great camper BobbyJane. Did your grandpa buy it new and have it the whole time? I love seeing other Clouds on here. Where are you located roughly? I am in Wisconsin. If you are close to WI/MN would love to see your finished camper at one of the local fiberglass camper meets. Keep us posted on your progress.

thank you grandpa bought it used it was still a little rough when he got it but i am fixing that..
I am currently in Utah and am going to be in northern California for the summer but i keep hearing about these conventions(?) or gatherings of fiberglass camper owners and i am thinking that i need to make an appearance at one of them. Maybe i will see you there...

Update!!! Check it out
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/m...cture1763.html

I went with a industrial paint for heavy equipment the color is Mountain Mist
not to bad for me never spray painting anything before

I took windows out and to a pro for resealing and such...not to happy with the work they did i realy hope that they dont leak...
I tinted windows got a kit from auto body place,
Reinstall was so easy if not a bit messy but that pudy tape is AWESOME!!
Just waiting on the trim lock for the big front and back stationary windows,
the tarp is on there because i have not yet installed sky light that is on the agenda for tomorrow.
See you all Later
