Letitia, Do you know for sure if EggCamper has gone back to two ceiling vent fans mounted on either side of the center rib for their current model? It's hard to tell from their website which photos are of a current model. Some photos that look new show a gas stovetop that, as I understand, is no longer a factory option. But if they have gone back to two fans mounted on either side of the center rib, then they have already chosen to just avoid the center rib rather than remold the area to accommodate a wider selection of current fan model upgrades. So I guess that solves the problem for new buyers, although it looks like it complicates things a bit straddling a lateral fiberglass seam on the inside. If it's not one thing, it's another.... Dale

Our EggCamper is a 2011 with only one vent and it is right in the center of the rib. I do have a MaxAir vent cover on it but that's another story . Can't speak for anything newer than 2011.

Hello Bob,
Could you please provide some details about the Maxfann you installed. We have the factory installed fan located in the center of the rib, and a Maxxfan ready to install in its place. I'm sure that we could benefit from your experience.
Hope to hear from you,

There is a difference between the MaxxFan and the MaxAir vent cover.

I have not installed a MaxFan. Just a Max Air which is only a vent cover which allows the vent to remain open no matter how vile the weather might be. It has never rained in with an open vent with the Max Air over it.

Did the center rib portion (belly band) get in the way?

Hey Letitia, Have you tried to mount the MaxxFan over your EggCampers center "belly band" yet? If so, how did it go? Dale

Hi Dale,
We started getting it organized yesterday, but found that getting the butyl tape and dicor self leveling lap sealant was no easy task. Think I finally found it at a small rv repair place...going there on Saturday. Plan is to peel back the covering on the band, hacksaw the band away, enough so fan cover will close. I don't know if anyone has done it this way and I hope it will work.
This replaces the idea to build up a spacer with some type of material....
Open to any suggestions!

Added curtains

My wife and I came up with a way to hang lightweight, snuggly fit curtains over the factory mini-blinds that we’re really happy with and thought we’d share in case others might want to try it. Forgive us if others have previously done/reported something similar to this and we’re just not aware of it.
Hardware needed (see photo; two per window; available at Lowe’s or Home Depot):
- Command Hook, clear
- Machine Screw, #8-32 x 1 3/4"
- Nylon Washer, 3/8" for large surface area on front and to space hook 1/8" away from mini-blind frame so curtain can slide
- Nylon Spacer, .171" I.D. (3/8" O.D.) x 1" (fits inside mini-blind frame channel)
- Fender Washer, #10 for large surface area on back
- Nylon Lock Nut, #8-32
Remove a mini-blind to work on it:
- Remove the two screws holding the mini-blind onto mounting brackets over window
- Slide the mini-blind off the brackets
Then do the following on each end of the mini-blind frame:
- Mark mini-blind 1 ½" in from the end and mid-way top-to-bottom
- Using 3/16" drill bit (smaller if you want a snug fit), drill a hole through the front of the mini-blind frame and continue on through the back of the frame
- Mark Command Hook 1" down from top and center side-to-side
- Using same drill bit, drill hole through your mark on the Command Hook
- Put nylon spacer inside the channel of the mini-blind frame lining up with drilled holes
- Pass machine screw through the:
1) Command Hook,
2) nylon washer (to space hook away from frame so curtain moves more freely),
3) drilled hole on the front side of the mini-blind,
4) nylon spacer inside mini-blind channel (to keep channel from collapsing)
5) drilled hole on the back side of the mini-blind frame.
- Place fender washer over the threads of the machine screw
- Thread the nylon lock nut onto the machine screw end
- Make sure Command Hook is hanging straight down from the mini-blind frame, then tighten lock nut until Command Hook feels snug
- Return mini-blind to brackets on window, and secure back in place with original screws
- Make sure there is still clearance between the end of machine screw and the wall (ours still fit fine with about a 1/8" gap so no worry about scratching the wall).
- Rest a simple expandable curtain rod (Wal-Mart; your choice of color) across the two hooks
As for the curtains, my wife did the following:
- On the backside, measure in about 2-3" (depending on how you want the curtains to look) from the outer edge of each curtain (one left edge, one right edge in each pair)
- Take scissors and cut a 3/4" slit in the middle of the curtain rod pocket (she did horizontal, but in retrospect, vertical might actually work better)
- Separate the fabric faces (wax paper and a pencil helped), and apply fabric glue or super glue to keep cut edges from fraying, let dry (make sure you don’t glue something you don’t want to!)
- Slide the curtain rod through the curtain rod pocket with cut holes on the outside edges
- Slide cut holes down over the hook lip of Command Hooks so curtain rod drops into Command Hook pocket.
- Adjust curtains, and you’re done.
I hope that all makes sense. Let me know if something doesn’t....
Dale

I tried to load the four curtain images with the original text, but they didn't go. Tried just one in a subsequent post, and it went. So I'll send the remaining three one-at-a-time.

Added swivel seats

My wife and I will spend long days fishing in a small boat where we appreciate swivel seats with good back support. So we decided to give them a try in our EggCamper. They are not permanently mounted - just attached to plywood on non-skid mats. They came together great and fit the dinette well. We'll see how we feel about them after a couple of outings.
