I want to take the 40 year old toilet and black water tank our of our new-to-us 79
Scamp in order to clean and
paint. I looked at the diagram (we got most every manual with it!), and figured out to release the 4 clips on the floor. (Screws rusted in place, so a bit challenging to get out, but I managed.) Can't quite figure out how it is connected to the valve underneath.
1. How is it attached to the drain valve? I looked and had hubs look. He found 4 bolts rusted in place. Gonna give them a shot of liquid wrench or WD40. Is that it? Any secrets or words of wisdom?
2. There is the start of a crack on the corner by the vent. See picture. Is this fatal for the tank? Of all the
leaks I don't want, I really don't want a black water leak.
3. Recommendations on cleaning? I was going to put in it the yard and spray it with clorox.
4. Have talked hubs into a new toilet as the old one has all kinds of exposed rims and tubes and yelch to collect nasties, and the newer ones are much sleeker in design. Comments or advice?
