Scamp Interior Measurements

I am having trouble finding actual measurements of Scamp trailers. I am looking for a layout 7 and wanted measurements of the "hallway." In this case it would be from the kitchen sink cabinet to the side dinette and from the main dinette to the back bunks. It seems that most of the scamps are similar in size so any help would be appreciated. I was thinking about bed mods and was trying to figure out what was possible with the space.

Not necessarily the exact answer, but on my major rebuild I assumed about 2 ft plus a little.
The total inside is 6'6" more or less and I thought in terms of two foot modules.
If the aisle is more than feet than something else has to be less.
Remember my "Scamp " has nothing stock or standard and my answer is basically useless except for the observation that 6' 6" and two foot generalization.

We have a Scamp 16 Layout 7 and I measured everything I could think to measure

The floor, not including under the large table or small dinette, so just the HALLWAY, from the bunk to the raised area of the large dinette is:
79 1/2 inches long
43 1/2 inches wide

Underneath the large rear dinette measures:
36 inches long
30 inches wide

Nick,

Out of curiosity, what kind of bed mods are you thinking about?

We wanted the 54” main bed and the ability to sleep 2+ grandkids inside the trailer.

We accomplished that with a Scamp 16 Deluxe Layout A with a
no charge swap of a front sofa/bunk-beds instead of the front
dinette that usually comes with the Layout A.

Wayne (@ Scamp) told us about the Scamp 16 Deluxe Layout A with that no-charge substitute of front sofa/bunk-beds instead of the normal front dinette.

You can see pix of ours at the following link:

Good luck on your search and selections!

Family of 6

Ray,

First, your trailer looks great. We are looking to buy used and try to squeeze 2 adults and 4 small kids in until they want to move out to a tent. We have struck out lately and I am looking for creative to sleep more people with any layout.

We can sleep two people comfortably in the back of our Pilot tow vehicle with middle and rear seats folded. One parent with one kid in the tug and the rest in the trailer?

Layout 4 Storage Room/Bathroom Measurements

Anyone know the outer length and width of the storage room or bathroom (side) in Scamp Layout 4? I have had little luck with finding a Layout 7 and was thinking I could remove the storage room out of a layout 4 and use that space as a small kid bed. I figure the storage room would be easier to remove than a bathroom and there are a couple of those for sale now. Anyways I think the bathroom and storage room are the same size so I could use either measurement. I was thinking something like this picture with a lounge during the day for a small child and then possible panels that slid out to form a bigger bottom bunk.

But the bathroom walls might be structural. You should find out, and if they are then plan on a substitute support.

Layout three doesn't have the bathroom and doesn't provide any additional support in that area. But if you wanted to be safe, you could install another twisty metal support on the end of the galley by the stove. I would.

So is checking with Evelands. I discussed a front sofa to dinette mod with them but never did the project. It was good to get verification that what I had considered was structurally safe to do. Just make sure you talk to one of the guys that actually knows the trailers.

I was thinking of a layout three for you as well.... No little room to remove and I feel like I saw one for sale just recently either her or on https://www.fiberglass-rv-4sale.com/...ilers-for-sale

Also, Casita has a layout where there is a side sofa with bunk. I can't remember if it's a front bunk, too, or a bathroom up front, but wonder if you could modify a Scamp layout 7 (should you find one) to be a side bunk as well.

Scamp Interior Measurements

Nick,

We actually slept 2 adults plus 3 pre-teen grandkids in a big bed (54”)
Scamp 13 trailer (with sofa/bunks) for a few nights.

http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...bed-68650.html

I slept on the bottom bunk, my 12yo grandson slept on the top bunk, his twin sister (12yo) and younger sister (10yo) slept with my wife in the 54” wide bed. I expected they might need to sleep head-to-toe, but they actually slept shoulder-to-shoulder and did just fine.

Head-to-toe would also be an option for smaller kids in the bunk beds.

I have seen pix where folks created a bunk bed over the top of the main 54” bed In the back.

When the oldest granddaughter was younger and shorter, she actually crawled under the 54” bed space and hid from us for a while.

In the Scamp16, there is room for a palette/futon in the aisle between the bunks and the back main bed.

Instead of a $900 awning on our Scamp13, we got a CLAM screen room/tent and 6 privacy panels off Amazon for about $315. Grandkids have happily chosen to sleep in the CLAM in fair weather.

Lots of options for creative solutions.

Good luck to you!

Thanks Ray. I do think there is options that I need to be open to so I can find a trailer. I have been looking at discobed kid bunks (Kid-O-Bunk Lime Green With Organizers | Disc-O-Bed) for possible placement in that "hallway." We would like a more permanent solution but are open to anything. Nice to know there is possibly more room on that main dinette then we might have thought. I think we need to find a good Scamp without a bathroom and then figure out what is next.

Scamp Interior Measurements

You are welcome, Nick! [emoji4]

Be aware that the main bed (dinette) in a Scamp 16 standard (molded fiberglass interior) is only 44” wide. [emoji10] My sister has a Scamp16 Layout 6 with that 44” bed and they now mostly sleep head-to-toe for the additional shoulder room.

We had the 54” bed in our standard/molded Scamp13 and liked it. That
additional 10” of width makes it more like a double bed than a twin bed.

Currently, the only way you can get a 54” bed in a Scamp16 is to order
a Deluxe 16 with the wood interior. That is a big part of why we went with
the Deluxe that we got. As the son of a carpenter/builder, I also thought
that minor interior customization (I.e. additional shelves, etc.) might be
easier for me to do with wood.

Without the swap of sofa/bunks for front dinette in the Deluxe Layout A,
the most a Deluxe Scamp 16 will sleep is 3 (Layout B - side dinette)

We actually saw the Disc-O-Bed set up at a sporting goods store (Bass Pro, Cabelas, Academy Sports ?) and thought it looked interesting.

I don’t know how old your kids are but, I think it is great to give them that
camping/traveling experience. Our own kids remember camping with us
in a Starcraft pop-up. Even though it has now been several years ago,
our grandkids still talk about the “5 people in a little Scamp13”
experience.

Once again ..... Good luck!
