Scamp front/back windows

Is there any way to replace the front/back plexi windows on an 83 Scamp 13? Scamp doesn't stock them. Previous owner did serious damage with a Scotch Pad.

use your old window as a pattern and cut new windows from sheets of plexiglass.
Reinstall with new gaskets from Scamp. They have a split in them which accepts a strip of rubber which makes installation a LOT easier than the old one piece gasket. You can do it if you try!!

Yes. You can cut your own plexiglass using the old as a template and reinstall with a fresh gasket. Getting it into the gasket is a bit tricky, but there are some old threads with step-by-step instructions.
Here's one with a video link:

EDIT- Just reviewed the video... Isn't the locking strip supposed to go on the outside?

That's why you use plexiglass- it bends.

Ian Giles has a video on his website that shows how to make your own acrylic windows. Scroll most of the way down this page: Proud Canadian

Plexiglass will scratch and discolor. Never wipe it while dry.
If you can afford it, look for Polycarbonate, brand name, MAR-GARD 5000.
It is scratch resistant and keeps its clear look.

Wayne,

How easily can it be shaped/worked? I'm a more pay-somebody-else-to-do-it-than-have -the-frustration kind of guy.

They were pretty aggressive with the Scotch Brite. I tried a solution I got fro the car glass company in town.

I had some plexiglass scratch remover that I got from the Harley Davidson dealer that worked beautifully on my motorcycle windshield, you might try that first.

Buy a headlight restore kit and polish them.

All the headlite repair kit is a very fine grit ! Same as using Flitz or a gritty toothpaste ! And a lot cheaper! !

I used to restore things like this for a local shop. it's tons of man hours and does not last. It's not even worth my time typing out the complete proper procedure. Remove them and take them to a glass shop

Hmmmmm another bug in the app.

As I was saying, remove them and take them to a glass shop for exact replacements that you can install. OR many glass shops will remove, cut replacements and reinstall for very little $$$

Will a glass shop do anything? I tried an auto glass place and they sold me a liquid "polishing" compound. should I try a regular window place instead?

Glass shops here will remove / cut / replace auto glass, mirrors, and plexiglass. If you can bring it in they will replace it here.

Call around and see what you have local.

None here will buff or "restore"

Body shops do that here, and like I stated, even a professional restore does not last and is a waste of money in most cases
