So here we are using the trailer. It does not have an awning (yet?), so I cut to of our tarps previously used over our other trailer, so that the pop up can fit through it. This allows for airflow. We enjoy large tarps when camping for more than one day, so that we have plenty of space for when it rains. Our bigger tarp was huge, we ended up making part of it into a wall.

So this is how far I've gotten. The great news is, my wife is happy!!! Comfortable bed, plenty of storage easy set up and take down. We are now planning on doing some travel camping, first heading up to PEI next summer!

Things to do still:
1) I've inherited a good aluminum awning, want to see if I can attach it.
2) New cushions, these are temporary, with bed sheets cut and safety pinned as covers for now.
3) Attach the bike rack.
4) Clean up the exterior. Ideally I would have done this first, but time pressure and finances did not allow it. It was good enough. Eventually I would love to get it painted.
5) Hook up battery and solar. Right now I can hook up an extension cord, but otherwise no power. The battery LED lights work fine for lighting, but power for charging devices, running clock, and other lesser electrical needs.
6) Oh yeah, add a small 19" television screen and speakers.
7) Keep perusing fiberglassrv.com for ideas and modifications.

One more thing. I decided not to cover the top interior, but to cover it with multiple coats of paint. The painted fiberglass looks great, and in my opinion needs no covering.

Wow fantastic work of restoration.
These trailers seem to be rare. I just read that only 100 of them were imported from Poland. Only the fiberglass shells were imported. The final assembly on the trailer was done in Canada.
I'm interested to buy one that I saw on the classified. I did'nt go inspect it yet but they say that the interior has been completely redone. The seller told me that the refrigerator is only electric? Were there gas an electric brand new??
And was the heating system gas only or gas with an electric fan?
They ask $2500 for it.

I don't believe they had a heating unit at all, or a fridge for that matter, mine only had an ice box in it before I restored it, now I just use a electric cooler

Hi Norm, I have to be honest. When I saw the pictures on the first page, first post, I thought "how nice." Then I saw what you did and I can say WOW

colemaninterested,
re. the fridge, my trailer had only electrical , 12 volt and 110.
re. the furnace, there was none.
I would gladly have paid $2500, especially if the interior is already done.
I love the look of this trailer, it is small but it has real character.

Thanks for the encouragement. I was afraid I broke a cardinal fiberglass rv rule by dramatically altering the interior from the original.

Nope It's ALL about you and your needs. The only time we get concerned is if someone is trying to do something unsafe or would hurt the structural integrity.... like putting an A/C unit on a non-supported roof.

Good grief, Norm, I can hardly keep up with reading all that you have done. The lounge area looks very comfy as well as the bed. The tower is clever for being able to have outside and fitting with the table. The whole thing looks dang good.

My husband and I just picked up a cadet we found on EBay and are trying to decide what to use to recover the walls when we fix her up. We were thinking of using the foil/bubble duct insulation then cover it with something. We just aren't sure what would work. Any suggestions?

Not sure what to say. I decided to put in studs, paneling and foam insulation because that seemed easiest to me. If you go through other people's posts, you'll find lot's of ideas and suggestions.

I suggest posting this as a separate question on its own, so it doesn't get lost in this particular post. Lots of people here are willing to share their knowledge and experience.

Good luck. The Cadet is a great little trailer! If you do a google image search for 'n126 caravan' (or 'predom caravan' or 'niewiadów caravan') you'll discover that this trailer has a great following in Europe still to this day.

Been making some improvements on my Cadet, figuring things out as we used it over the summer.
1. Added gas shocks to assist in lifting the bed to access the under bed storage.
2. Added two more access doors to the under bed storage, on both sides, to minimize having to lift the bed when in use.
3. Added a under bed sliding pantry.
4. My sister made me a beautiful quilt to match the colors!
5. Attached a clock, thermometer and broom to the door.
6. Added the sway bar, an amazing benefit for eliminating sway and improving handling.

Trailer has been working great. Made a road trip to Prince Edward Island, then to Manitoulin Island. As you can see in the last picture, or little trailer is dwarfed in the trailer parks we stayed at.

Saw a number of fiberglass trailers on route, including one that was attached to a flat bed of a truck, with space for trikes on the back. Waved at all of them, feel a special bond with all the other fiberglassers.
