Trillium 1300 Door handle/lock

Hi all...new here. Just bought myself the cutest, bright yellow 1973 Trillium 1300!
I love it. Named her Buttercup. Pics will follow.

Anyway, I cannot get the door to lock. The door seems to be off just a bit, but I think I can fix that by tightening the screws. The issue is that the door will no longer lock from the outside.

I am wondering if I can buy any similar type door lock and try to install it myself.

I also am wondering about getting more shelves inside. Should I just look for ones I can glue on? I do not want to drill holes of course!

Also need a few minor repairs to the ceiling vent, but I think I can fix with some silicone

Thanks for any help I can get

Deborah

Debroah, Welcome to FiberglassRV.com! We are here to help.

First thing: Silicone is evil. Do not put it on your Trillium. In a few years, it will fail, and then nothing will stick to where it was. A good caulk, like Mono Ultra is what you should use. It stays soft, and when it gets hot, it will melt a bit, and re-stick.

The shelves in a Trillium mount to the wood frame, inside the trailer, that the windows screw into.

The door lock is the worst part. They go for $300, or more, and are a rare as hens teeth. Nothing currently made will fit the hole that it is in.

Thanks!
Saves me from making a big mess
I'm thinking I may be able to just get the lock part replaced?
At least someone at work suggested it

About the the shelves...mine has nothing there, so I can just find where the wood is?

Thanks
Deborah

The wood is all around the windows, on the inside. The curtain rods mount to it.

As for lock cylinders, you are in luck:
Bargman L300 and L400 Cylinders | parts, accessories | Mississauga / Peel Region | Kijiji

The Trillium 1300 uses an L300 latch.

Hi. Susan here.
I also need to replace the locking mechanism on my 1300 Trillium. Did you have any luck?

I have all of that but it doesn't lock. I have had it to a locksmith. I am looking for a tutorial to install a new door lock dead bolt system.

Video tutorial on how to lock a Trillium from the inside

Hey there. This comes a little late but I suspect others will have the same question (I did). The Trillium lock has three settings. The middle one allows you to lock from inside. I believe it was designed this way so that kids wouldn't lock themselves in the trailer. Here's a quick video tutorial I prepared:

Fantastic video Kyle and very helpful! You should make this video a post on it's own so it gets more views.
(Now, if only I could find the key to my Trillium.)

I signed up for your blog too...I think I've learned something from your rockguard video too. I'll test it out in the morning, although it's possible that the outer wingnuts on mine are just bent and that's why they don't work.
