Hi I'm Mike. Is this a Boler?

Hi I'm Mike from Texas. I just bought a fiberglass camper and can't quite figure out what it is. Boler perhaps? It's in really bad shape but I thought it would be a fun project. Like at least one previous poster here, my wife isn't exactly happy, but she is coming around. :-)

The reason I thought it might be a boler is that "headroom ridge" along the top. I'm brand new at this but I've studied some pictures trying to find a clue as to what this might be and I thought that maybe the ridge and the wheel wells might be a clue. I've yet to see any "egg shaped" fiberglass rv that has the blunted back like this one though nor one without a front window, such a big back window or no window in the door. Any help would be appreciated.

Not a Boler, but definitely from the same gene pool. Whomever made it probably started with Boler molds.

What is the interior layout? Can you put a window in the front?

I just pulled it out of the weeds and the interior is trashed so I haven't gotten to crawl all over it or through it sufficiently yet. There is a small counter as you enter through the door with a 3 or 4 burner stove and a small sink. There are built in fiberglass storage wells that the bed lays across. I just didn't want to start modifying it too much if it were something unique that might mean something to somebody.

I suppose that you could put a window in the front but I'm actually looking at minimizing the windows and putting in some A/C. I would like to get rid of the window in the back too. I am hoping to put a full bath in the front. I know, crazy dreams for an amateur. I only have 4 requirements though. #1. bed 2. A/C (it's too hot here in Texas to sleep w/no A/C) #3. Full bath for the wife & 4. Light weight to pull with the jeep. Thoughts????

By the way, I'm an extreme rookie here. I hope I'm not speaking blasphemy or committing blog/forum sins. :-) I freely admit that I'm a novice, ignorant and unskilled.

Are you kidding, Mike? Nothing we love better than puzzles and projects, and here you've brought us both!

Welcome Mike!

Agreed, a very good puzzle. The trolly roof runs right to the back. I know I have seen that before. The windows are all kinds of crazy, (no offense intended). The kitchen window is nothing I have ever seen. The rear windows are HUGE!. The only window that looks "normal" is the curb side window.

Well thanks. I might have found a new home here then. :-)

In my previous research over the past couple of days, I looked at the "mystery trailer" thing and saw a Wisp. I thought that was model of Boler but looking again in the last hour or so, it appears that maybe it is it's own brand????

A Wisp? (maybe?)

Pretty sure they are a mod done - also would guess that they did some fiberglass modifications on the rear top as well to allow for such a window.... inside photos would be helpful if they showed the bare walls so one could see where the modifications where made.

I think you may have it, Mike. Check out the last photo in the first post here:

Thanks for the info and encouragement. Maybe this will help confirm to my wife that I haven't completely lost my mind. :-) I'll post some more pics when I get it cleaned out if y'all are interested. I'm sure I will need more info and help. Again, though, how bad would it be to modify it considerably? I'm sure my wife will make it "cute". I just want it functional.

Very cool find. I think it's a Wisp too, which I'd never heard of until now. The rear window doesn't look original to me though. Here's another thread on the forum: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f55/where-was-the-wisp-trailer-made-57325.html

Good detective work on your part!

Hi Mike and welcome to FGRV. I can't help you with a brand but all those windows look to me like house windows scabbed in. I've never seen anything like that on an RV. How about some close up pics from the edges ?

You haven't shown us the inside yet, but as you're considering modifications, know that most single-wall fiberglass trailers depend on interior components to add support to the shell.

As to the funky windows, you may be looking at some fiberglass work to bring the openings back down to a more workable size. That's beyond my skill set, but you're in the right place for advice and help.

First thing is to get her cleaned up and roadworthy. Take and post lots of pictures. It would also be great to put your trailer in the registry. You've got a rare bird there.
