Thanks for the compliment, Wendy. The slope is 4/12, like my house, just about the minimum that allows for wet snow to slide. The uprights are 4x4's. I contemplated using 6x6, but this is enough. With no sidewalls the wind does not have much to push against. The posts are pressure treated, pegged to 2x4 pressure treated pads which sit on eight gravel pads (no concrete). The roof is 12 foot Ameri-drain, 29 gauge galvanized panels, 36 in wide. The roof rafters and purlins are dimensioned for our expected snow load.
For tax purposes this is designed as a "non-permanent, movable" shelter. (Give me a flatbed F350 truck with dualies and I'll move it to a new spot in one piece - all material came in a bundle from the lumber yard on one of those.)
