Painting counter and benches.

We are in the process of updating our Trillium, but the counter, benches and closet are all fiberglassed in place so we can not remove them, the original gelcoat is very creamy/beigy so we want to paint it all. What kind of paint should we use? Do we need that interlux Polyurathane paint for that as well or can we just primer it and use tremclad spraypaint.

Paint

Painting the fiberglass interior of a trailer. The finish on fiberglass is gelcoat. You can prime and paint with most anything but the only finish that will come close to the durability of the original gelcoat is a 2 part urathane like Interlux perfection, awlgrip or something similar. These are easily found at marine supply houses such as West Marine, Jamestown or Sail Net. They're not cheap but I've had the interlux product exposed to weather on cockpit seats in a boat for over 15 years and it still looks good.

I would think long and hard before painting and try one of the cleaning and polishing methods first. Much like cleaning the outside, I'd get some barkeepers friend and a green scrub pad, then use Zep polish.
