We are predicted to go above freezing (33 F) tomorrow . First time in about 30 days. I will be able to go ice fishing in shorts and a T shirt.
Hopefully the mosquitos will not be out on Saturday.

It sounds like you have a great workable plan.
Just two questions:
Are you being charged rental on one or two sites since you are using electrical power from two?
Should the electrical power be interrupted for a week or so...what is your backup plan?
Best wishes, and good luck!

I'm a little nervous about possible power outages, and figuring out what to do if I lose power. I guess if the power goes out, I have to instantly "winterize" the Casita, in case it stays out. So I need to read up on how to drain the hot water heater. I've never used the fresh-water tank, since I'm on city water, so I don't have to worry about that.
We're supposed to get 18-24 inches of snow. If the power goes out, I will have to run the internal furnace on the 12v battery. I should already bought one of those Honda 2000i Generators.

I am paying the electric for both sites, and if the power goes out, I will run my internal furnace off the 12v battery until the battery dies (supposedly in 8-24 hours). Hopefully that will be enough time to "winterize" the Casita. If I lose power for a week, and do not have another power source, I will have to stay at a hotel.

You will need a broom to get the snow off the trailer. Snow load is an issue, especially the "wet" i.e. heavy snow you are most likely getting. Pile it around the trailer. It will insulate until heat loss melts it (days). We have a tin roof. The snow slides off and builds up around the foundation. Free insulation. Raz

If your electrical power does go out you might want to consider hooking up your auto up the the trailer, and use the auto engine running at an idle, for an hour or two at a time, to power the internal furnace and 12-volt lights, and keep the trailer's battery charged.
Yeah, I know that supposedly letting a auto idle for long periods of time isn't good for the engine...but, it sure beats freezing!
Your auto is full of gasoline, isn't it?

Hope he has a carbon monixide detector that works inside the camper.
Also, When I wintered, I put rock salt in the grey and black tanks to keep them from freezing. Keep the cabnet doors where water pipes are open so they stay warm.
A Buddy heater will be priceless if the power goes out.

We are halfway through the Blizzard, I'm supposedly getting 22-30 inches of snow in NJ. No crisis's yet. It's 53 degrees beneath the Casita, and 82 inside, using two 1500 watt heaters. Outside it is 21, and going down to 14 over night. There's a state of emergency so I can't go anywhere, not that I need to. There will be strong winds later, and I don't like the idea of cold without electric. I had an apartment when Hurricane Sandy hit, and lost power for 2 weeks. I ordered a Honda 2000i generator for the next blizzard. As seen below, I've been trying to keep the snow off the Casita.

I cant imagine the snow getting to heavy for the egg. The size and construction make them quite strong.
I wintered for 5 years and never had skirting or warmed the underside of the camper. I did have a heat tape and insulation on the fresh water supply though.
Personally, a Buddy Heater would be my first thing to have vers a generator.
Stay warm and safe.

Walt? WALT?
Do you still have electrical power? If so, several folks would like to know that you are OK!

Everything is fine in NJ, I never lost electrical power. Next time I will have a generator, that should enable me to make it at least a few days even if the water/sewage/electric go out. Below are some during and after photos.

William, that is great! One less thing for me to worry about. As if I didn't have my own problems!
Your photos are great, and they sure make me glad that Oklahoma was spared this terrible storm. If Oklahoma has one-inch of snow...the whole state shuts down!
Bill
